Well, i bought a 92 GS with a 91 talon tsi engine in it but the transmission was never changed. So it has the stock tranny in the car and the problem starts here. When i got the car boost was only on 9 psi. I got my manual boost controller and turned it up to 20psi and made 298hp and 290ft lbs. The clutch went right after getting dynoed so i'm guessing that it made too much power for the clutch to hold. I was told when i got the car that it had an ACT 2100 clutch in it with a Shepard Racing Trans.. I got the clutch out and was ready to put in an XTD stage 4 clutch and it didn't fit.. Didn't know why at first so i bought an ACT 2600 clutch and still, no good. I took the trans to TurboTriz over here in Edison, and they said it was a stock trans from the 92 eclipse GS that's why the clutch didn't fit. While i wait for the RIGHT clutch to come my question is How much power can the stock tranny hold before it goes?

Well it does depend on what kind of clutch you plan to use, because i know for a fact that anything 2600 and above will be hard on your tranny if your droppin the hammer and takin off. But i would say they can hold quite abit.. about 220-500hp if you dd it and dont drop the clutch like its your last stand on earth. Anyone correct me if im wrong. I am runnin 350hp on a daily basis at 15 psi. i can turn it up to 25psi and run 500hp and my tranny will hold it as lond as i dont drop the clutch. I have a act 2600. Basically it really depends on 3 things
1. Cltuch
2. How its driven
3. condtition of tranny in the first place.

Yeah the thing is i have a different trans then you have. Its the trans from a non turbo eclipse 4g63.. The clutch i bought is an ACT MB3-XTG6 clutch

the torque capactiy is 422lbs. Here are the specs

Xtreme Pressure Plate
Clamps load increase of 50% to 120%, Pedal feels moderate to stiff, Many SFI Certified to insure safety

Spring Centered (6 Pad) Disc
Recommended for Road Racing and high power Street, Increased torque capacity and spline life, Very good durability and good spline life, Quiet operation, reduced driveline shock

Manufacturers rate a Clutch with TQ in mind because thats more then likly what is going to fry it.. So the 425 TQ number should be considered IMO.

Its not so much what a stock tranny hold its how much your tranny decides to hold LOL just really depends on how much it was beat on etc..
