So, a buddy of mine in Maine called the other day asking if I would want a 94GS shell for anything. I said "how much?" he said "free".

Awesome.

I've got a 91TSi with a pretty beat chassis. The engine is 100% rock solid with slowboy forged internals, a BRAND NEW clearwater head, GT 35/T3/T4, wideband, Hi FLow FPR, ostrich & DSMap, and an assload of other goodies.

The GS is the stock n/t 2.0 which i'm in the process of pulling right now. The plan is to take my TSi engine and drop it into the GS. I've got a new turbo tranny, and I plan on keeping the same CV's off of the AWD.

Other then that, does anyone have any advice to maybe offer up that might be of some assistance? AANNNNYY advice will be appreciated. :thumb:

I got the weekend off here at Fort Dix NJ and headed to Maine. Picked the car up from my buddy's grandmothers house and trailered it to my In-Laws.

I was told that the car bent a rod so that's why it wouldn't run. And I really didn't give a whoot about the 2.0 but i wanted to see if maybe the thing would run anyways.

Pulled the valve cover and guess what, rockers had gotten lose, came off, and sat at the bottom of the head. I got to lash adjusters, and put it all back together, bought a new starter (he had taken it out) and VIOLLA! It ran!

So for a whooping 75$ (the cost of the trailer and gas) I got a 94 GS that ran. Wow.

But being I had no use for the engine, it was time to pull it out.

I started with the fluids following the Haynes manual just to make sure I didn't screw up anything essential to making the car run after I dropped my other engine in.

Then to the power steering, ac, and alt. (QUESTION; I'd like to keep power steering in the car, all I need is the belt as well as to remount the pump on my TSi block right? Can I still do so with the balance shaft eliminated?)

Then off to the intake, throttle cables, fuel lines, injector plus, cas plugs and the million other plugs all over the thing.

The only one I had a real hard time with was the speedo on the tranny. In fact it's still on the tranny LOLz! Whatevs i'll get it next week.

So as of now that's all I've got done, next week i'm bringing my TSi to Maine to get the rest of this shit done. So stay posted if you're interested, and if you've got any advice PLEASE offer it up. LOL

Having the balance shafts eliminated has nothing to do with whether or not you can keep the power steering. You've got it right, just mount it up and put a belt on it.

Outstanding. After reading through the last post, it seems like the hardest part is going to be just running a few extra wires from my ECU. I plan on keeping my ECU being it's socketed and I run Ostrich. But I doubt swapping those will be hard at all.

There's a lot in the tech guide that I really won't need either. It's not as if i'm going to a junk yard looking for a block and whatnot. I'm starting with a solid engine. It's just a few minor wiring adjustments that need to be made. Maybe I'm naive, but seems pretty simple to me.
