guys,

i'm going to rebuild my 2.0L bottom end (1g) to handle serious boost and target 550to 600whp. wht are the best Rod and Piston combo can i use?wiseco, JE?Need opinions on which manufacturer to choose frm.

Also , wht brand of engine bearings should i go for if i were to adapt a high revving setup.?i've heard of Clevite bearings before but havent really tried them b4.

Clevite's were the brand to go untill about a year ago. Clevite stop making them a tri-metal bearing. I would recommend ACL bearings. As for as the piston and rod combo there are alot of options you can go with. With the horse power rating you are going for you will be right on the brink of the power point for H-beam rods.

In my honest opinion I would recommend I-beam rods this way you would have no worries. Manley I-beams get my vote for that rating with either a Wiseco or a Ross piston to top it off. :thumb:

Eagle/Wiseco seems to be a winning combo around here.
I had JE's and they would slap when cold, i didn't like them.

I would look into some of the options for lightweight aluminum rods with some wrist pin oiling holes, to help reach a power goal that high. I would also look for a piston with a thick crown above the first ring since you'll have a lot of cylinder pressure and heat.

I've heard that JE's have less silicon content, so they heat up and expand more before reaching tight tolerances.

I've also heard the news about Clevite no longer having a true tri-metal bearing and would assume that the ACL Race bearings would be the next logical choice.
