Hey guys I had a clutch replaced about 1000 miles ago with a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. I also replaced the TOB, TOB clip, SS clutch line, and Redline Mt-90 tranny fluid. Everything felt great at first other then there was a light vibration in the clutch pedal itself. But now, 1000 miles later, there is a squeling sound (almost like thousands of crickets going off) when the car is moving or idleing. Now, when I push in the clutch the sound completely goes away. I still have the vibration in the clutch pedal also. Could this be anything other than a bad TOB? Thanks

Sounds to me like your tob. Mine was more of a clanking noise when it was bad, but I believe they can make different noises.

Will I need to redo anything like restep the flywheel, put in new tranny fluid, or re-break in the new TOB?

EDIT: And also will this new TOB get rid of the vibration in the clutch pedal that I was feeling

And by the way, this was a NEW OEM TOB from extremepsi, are these OEM TOB supposed to be this tempermental?

And one more thing... did this hurt the actual clutch itelf at all? (pressure plate, disc, and/or flywheel)?

You won't know the answer until you get the transmission out and check the finger's of the pressure plate.

You might get even better responses (not that these ones aren't satisfactory) if you post in the drivetrain tech right? I mean, you are a proven member.:D

Could be the pilot bearing the tend to scream while the clutch is engaged and quiet down when the pedal is pushed lightly/all the way.

Not sure if DSMs run pilot bearings or not since some cars do not.

I'm having a very similar problem myself and I'm pretty sure it's the TOB as well. Mine will also chirp when I'm moving and feel like I've tapped the brakes slightly. It's very strange. My Act 2600 is only a couple thousand miles old as well.

I bought a new OEM TOB from RRE along with a new Clutch Fork and Ball Fulcrum. I guess we'll find out when I make the swap. I have not decided if I want to do it myself or pay to have it done. :( Pain in the Ass VS Pain in the Wallet LOL

Mine's like a high pitched belt squeal as well, but quieter... for now. It doesn't help that one of my belts is also squealing a bit, LOL.

I'm taking mine down to a mechanic friend today so we'll see if I can provide any insight afterwards.
