First of all I would like to invite rather then differ those of you that wanna post how its not worth it and I wont finish. O did I mention Im going off to college in 2 weeks and MUST get done... Ok well I bought a running and driving 1995 Talon AWD for $2500, dont ask I just did. I am planning on swapping the drivetrain to that and converting my GST to GSX.Then I am going to make the TALON FWD. I will have a short time, but will sell the talon for the same price or more then I bought it for. SOOOO basically with a crap load of work I AM GETTING PAID TO DO AN AWD SWAP!
Im going to periodically post up some pictures. The pictures will show things I have completed. I dont like to stop once I get started.
The reason I am posting is because I am doing this in parts and want some opionions from you guys to see if I should tweak my plan. Que to those that have completed the swap
1st... pull everything up front off the Talon Tranny, tranfercase, driveshaft, cv axles... So that its still a rolling chassis
2nd swap the tranny, cv axles, transfercase, into my car and drive around as FWD with AWD tranny for a bit, like a couple days.
3rd. Now I have 2 cars ... 1 with a awd tranny and fwd rearend and 1 with a fwd tranny and AWD rearend. I am going to plan on being outa commision for 3-4 days on this one. Ergo swapping the rearends suspension and gastanks.
4th I have 2 running an driving cars now both FWD but the GST needs a driveshaft... Take drill the welds on the driveshaft support and get it professionally welded onto my frame...
WALA!!! AWD SWAP!! this is a EXTREME oversimplicifation of the process, but I just want some opinions and In 2 weeks hopefully Ill post up finished pics!!
