Hi tuners. I have a quick question that I want to ask. I can never seem to get straight answers. Most of the 1g turbos were AWD, and when I first entered the DSM scene, I thought they only produced AWDs. So time passes and I spot a few FWD 1gs. So obviosuly they are out there. I have been told it was only an option, and even had people tell me there was no such thing as a 1g FWD. All I want to know is how rare are they, and were they special order only or what. Ive just been curious for a while and i wanted to clear things up. Thanks tuners.

They are NOT rare. I have had 3 FWD turbo's and know of plenty of people that have had FWD's. I couldn't ever seam to find a good AWD when I needed one. It kinda sucks. They are common, at least where I come from.

i think they're pretty common. i have one and i've seen a few around some junkyards. i'm willing to bet they made them like companies make 4x4 and 4x2 trucks. they just mix them up on the line. i'm sure AWD was an option considering the base model N/T is FWD.

That is kinda funny. Some people are just uninformed or misinformed. He might not even know any better.

Fwd turbo's in the first generation were equal to or less than the awd models, in the second generation they seemed to build more fwd turbo's than the awd's.

I think its harder to find a 1g AWD at this point. Anyone that is into these cars is going to want to hold onto their AWD more than their FWD. Just my opinion though.

looks like it has an aftermarket (leaky) sunroof too .. its an automatic--looks like an expensive tranny fix.

Types like a newbie.
No, the numbers are unknown, apparently. Probably went in the shredder a decade ago. Manufacturers -as they're always proving to us- stop giving a shit about their cars once they roll off the parking lot. They only (pretend to) care about the next one we buy.

Oh, and don't tow an automatic. The lube pump's driven by the engine side, so you're running it without lube when you're towing it.
