Finally found a good DSM in my area and bought it today. 95 Talon TSi AWD @109K with half of a 2gb conversion done, bone stock other than an airfilter. Its pretty close to mint, other than having a bunch of unpainted and scratched up 2gb body pieces. Interior is spotless.

The car has been sitting for awhile and the battery is dead and the waterpump is leaking. I am going to change all the fluids tomorrow and get the waterpump and timing belt changed along with new plugs/wires. Anything else recommended for a car thats been sitting?

It came with a Big T-28 Killer turbo (I think? it has AiResearch printed on the housing), lowering springs, Unorthodox UDP, and some intercooler piping all uninstalled in boxes along with the 2gb rear bumper and sideskirts.

First order after preventative maintenance will be getting the 2gb conversion finished and painted (should I leave the hood black?). Then supporting mods for the T-28 Killer. Its pretty much comparable to a Big 16g right, so I can look at setups for that turbo for ideas on fuel system requirements right?

If I have the money, I'm going to set the car up to run e-85 since its easily available here now. Any info on what I should get to do that would be appreciated. I don't know how to calculate how huge of injectors I would need for that.

I have around $4k to play with on this, any input on my plans is appreciated since I want this done in time to enjoy while theres still some summer.

A friend of mine was running E85 in his EVO, and he was using 1000cc injectors. He wasn't making anything over 400whp, so hopefully that helps some...

Read the fine print.

And personally... I've always really like the two toned look. I'd say leave the hood black for the most part, but paint the sides of the hood red and taper it in towards the inner part of the head lights. It'll look good since the Talon's naturally have the roof and A-pillar's black already.

If i knew how to use photoshop I'd just show you, but i don't so you'll have to use your imagination.

With 4k. . . fix ANYTHING that needs to be done before you mod. Compression test, do any belts. Spark plugs and wire, go NGK. Wire could go accel or msd. I also agree with the above, leave the rear and sides, i like the talon look in the rear.

Welcome to the boards!

E85 takes more fuel to make the same power, but it is far cheaper, smells way better, is higher octane, and is way easier to tune. FYI I was running a hair over 30psi on my set-up with both pump 93 as well as straight E85 and the E85 pulled way harder to redline than 93. Only thing I changed was the fuel trims to get them back into spec (i.e. injecting more fuel).

hahah. Looks really nice. Have fune and welcome to the money pit, soon you will be a broke heavy drinker who throws tools. But the best damn mechanic out here!!

The T28 is much smaller than a 16g but running E85 you will need similar fuel mods, I would use a Walbro 255, AFPR, FIC 850cc injectors (if you are going to keep that turbo)and DSM Link to tune with.

Thanks for all the replies guys! This looks like a great community. Nice to see so many members semi-local to me too. Do they ever do meets/gatherings around here?

What do you use to tune if you don't mind me asking?

That car was on xceedspeed.com! w00t. I hope you have a bicycle.

I'm not relying on the car as primary transportation if thats what you mean. But what exactly do you mean?

Its a T28 Killer, which is a 16g wheel in a custom housing. But that is about the same as the preliminary shopping list I have drawn up, minus a fmic.

Its getting timing belt and water pump today, and I just ordered MSD 8.5mm wires and NGK BPR7ES plugs. Should I replace the rubber hoses too?

Why 7es's? You ONLY want 7es's if you're running more than 17psi. Otherwise be SURE to stick with 6es's.
But nice with the msd's!

And I'd personally change anything that looks questionable. Preventative maintenance is the best kind!

I plan to run more than 17psi eventually. Should I get 6es's until I put the T-28 Killer in?
I am having a hard time finding much of anything that looks really questionable but I might not know what to be looking for. All the lines and hoses look and feel nice.

Should be fine with the 7s right away, they just may get a little more cruft on them in the meantime.

Replace any hoses you don't know the age of... how I lost my first engine. One of the heater hoses was swollen horribly, but hidden behind the engine.. didn't see it, hose blew, dropped the coolant all over the freeway, and warped the head.

Good bit of advice... keep a logbook! Oil changes, part additions, alterations, alignments, mileage... I'm obsessive, so I even keep my fuel-ups in mine so I can go back and look at long-term gas mileage. Just get a spiral bound notebook or leather diary, and keep it under the driver's seat along with a pen.

Hmm, well I put in a new battery and started it up today, and its making a loud sputtering noise now. Seems to be coming from the left side of the spark plug cover and the car is idling at about 300rpm now. It goes away after about 3500rpms, but the car is stumbling from 2k-3.5K badly. That could be the plugs I guess, but the stumbling goes away with the noise. Any ideas?
