I thought there was an electrical tech section on here but I can't find it. Anyway I'm a 34 year old not to computer smart kind of guy so sorry if I posted this in the wrong place :coy:

Here is my help question / problem : I want to buy a good security system for my 95 TSI and I am thinking about buying something from DEI like the Viper or Python. I don't want to pay some kid at Best buy or Circuit city to install the thing when they didn't even know what a turbo timer was or who makes a Talon tsi WTF

So is there anyone on here that knows where I can find the installation instructions for installing one of these in a 95 TSI ? I checked Directs site but you need to be a DEI dealer to get on to look up any of that stuff.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Patrick

PS. Long story short, someone was in my Talon last night all they got was like 20 bucks in quarters. But they tried to get my AFC:mad: So I come out of work at 2am and find my car turned out and not running right. They pulled hard to try to get the AFC but had no luck they just messed up the wires so I had to take the AFC apart and fix it and also the wires at the ECU. All this just so I could drive 35 miles home. I forgot just how much an AFC does to keep your car running. Sure wish I could have got my hands on the person while they were in the act :beatentodeath:

Thanks again

Hey, I don't have a chance right now to go through the website. But here's the link...

http://www.the12volt.com/

They have A LOT of info on electronics to do with cars (car alarms, stereo, wiring harnesses, etc.) They also have a forum on the website. Check it out hopefully it will help you out.
:)

I had circuit city install the alarm on my old integra and I never had any problems with it. Just give the guy a little extra cash and tell him to take his time and do it right.

if you goto best buy and make sure you get a mecp cert installer you will be fine. Alot of these guys are into car audio and not performance so they may have never hooked up the turbo timer function on an alarm before ive worked for best buy and circuit for almost 6 years and i have never had one requested at work before so dont hold that against them too much. Big box retail is sweet because if you ever have a problem no matter where you are you arent to far from a place where you can have your system serviced. And both BB and CC have lifetime install warranties.

I just found out about the warranty today. I was just going to buy it and install it at the shop but it still costs the same. I figured hell with it I'll let them do and just keep my eyes on them.

I'll be sure to find out if he is MECP certified. Thanks for the heads up.

There are many ways in which you can install an alarm system.

- Get a pager alarm - if it goes off, you'll hear the beeps, if you can't hear the siren.
- Install sirens on the inside AND the outside (preferable on that has a battery backup)
- Install piezo sirens (small high pitch tones) on the inside
- Install additional sensors - proximity sensor works good
- Install a hood pin switch - so if someone pops your hood the alarm goes off
- Wire additional security switches and hide them - you can wire one on the clutch pedal and one on the fuel pump.

FYI - I have a Viper 5000, comes with one pager remote and a regular non-pager remote.

I would stay away from Best buy or Circuit City for alarm installs - try to find a car audio store that does high end audio and car alarms.

Have you looked at the AutoPage 2 way alarms?

I just looked them up after I read your reply. They have no installers close to me. They look like nice systems too.

I am having mine installed first thing tomorrow morning. I'm going with the Viper 771xvr

Anyone else on here use the 771xvr? If so what do you think of it?
