i have a 90 plymouth laser with a non turbo motor in a 90 turbo laser car. i run it on a dirt track here in iowa. the thing i am wondering is can anybody give me any suggestions on how to get as much power i can with out blowing it up? i have rebuilt the motor with 9 to 1 pistons 272 cams shaved the head, lightweight pully, excluded the vaccum have good spark plug wires and platinum plugs. it also has the cyclone turbo intake, ported exhaust manifold, adjustable timing gears turbo injector turbo computer. i think that is close to it but if i think of something else i will let you know. i can not port and polish the head because of the rules, i need things that can not be real noticeable if you were looking at the engine from the outside. i also took out the turbo tranny and put a n/t tranny in. that gave me a little more rmp rev in 3rd gear which is what i run. NEED HELP MAJORLY!!! TIRED OF GETTING MY BUT STOMPED ( ALWAYS COMING IN SECOUND) TO A QUAD 4 SUNFIRE. ANYTHING WOULD HELP!

well you could 1. get rid of the turbo computer, and go with a n/a computer
2. go back to stock cams(seeing as how the 272's were not designed for n/a cars)
3. advance your timing a little

If I Change The Computer Back To N/t The Wiring For The Turbo Won't Mess With It? The Timing Has Been Advanced. I Put The 272's In ### The Guy I Got Them Fromsaid They Would Work The Best For What I Was Doing. I Am Still Learning On How To Get Power ### Last Year All I Ran Was Just A Stock Car I Got From Another Tow Yard In Town. Would Finding A Eprom Computer Help At All?

you are running god alful rich with a turbo ecu thats programed for much larger injectors than you Na motor has. I would as suggested get rid of the 272 if you want low end as they are designed for a turbo car thats reving for power. The stock cams maybe a 264/264 cam I would still run stock for a car I want the most low end from.

You will be running very lean if in fact you are using the N/A injectors. The ECU is setting a duty cycle based on a 450cc injector. N/A injectors are smaller causing a lean condition. Your long term fuel trims will max out in time but will never be able to compensate for the difference. Try a set of turbo motor injectors. Lasers burn, the Quad Four just dosen't know it yet.

i think i am running the turbo injectors they have a blue top. the car actually runs a little lean . the top of the plugs are kinda a carmel color. would any ecu be better then the other? if these injectors aren't turbo what color would turbo ones be. i have alot of parts for these cars. started to collect them after i started racing one last year. i have several parts and extra pieces to play with. also can anyone tell me if a 96 eclipse has any power? i bought one for 100 last year and the computer is out of it and haven't found one to fit it yet to see how it runs?

First, PLEASE use proper English in posts. It is a forum rule, and you will be warned or have threads closed because of it.

Second, Turbo injectors are Grey (390), Blue or black (450's). If yours are blue, then you have 1g turbo injectors.

And third, What model 2g? Rs, gst, gsx. What motor, 4g63, 420a? If it's a turbo car then yes, it can make power. If it's non turbo, it has the 420a neon motor and isn't that easy to pull power from (but it can be done with turbo, building the na a bit).

i apologize i didn't realize i wasn't using proper english. but thank you for the help. i am in the process of changing the cams now, and i was still sondering if there was a better computer then the others or should i just use one out of a 90 non turbo? thanks again for everyones help.

I would go to something like dsm link where it will still fall under the rules (kinda) and you can fully tune the motor in for what you need. I am familiar with similar dirt track classes out here in CA and I know you cant run a turbo so thats out. The only options and the nest I think is to go to dsm link with an eprom ecu and see what you can do.

My car with the 2.0 non turbo ran a little on the lean side to begin with. You could go back with the Non turbo Ecu and stock Non turbo injectors, and if they will alow it maybe run an upgraded fuel pump. That might allow you to bump up your timing even more. The 272 cams are probably hurting you more than everything. Putting the stock turbo cams in would help. Good luck its nice to see the non turbo cars put to some use.

The 96 eclipse won't do you much good. I know the neons do really well in this class (at least in Farley and Dub.) but the eclipse is heavier than the neon with the same motor. DsmLink would be your best bet atleast then you can tune the car. They will never know you are running it, even if it isn't allowed. Just do your tuning some where besides the track.

i just thought i would share my points standings with everyone.
