kk i'm a honda boy at heart, but i picked up this 94 gsx with 150k because it was real clean. anyways, i don't know what to do really with dsm's, my plan is keeping the internals stock, and adding fmic kit, 16g turbo, 560cc injectors and walboro 255 fuel pump. my question is, will the stock 7 bolt block be able to hold it? i'm hoping for 300 awhp and i'll call it quits, so can i use a afc to tune for 300 with this set up? thanks a lot!!

SAFC will tune your setup just fine. It is reccomended not to go bigger than 650's on a SAFC. Your block should hole up with no problems at 300 WHP. Only issue is this thing called crankwalk but thats going to do nothing but start another debate,LOL. Are you going to go with a evo 16g, those are proven 400hp setups.

Yes it will be fine, but I would suggest going with 650cc injectors. Although the 550's are most likely going to be able to handle the 16g, I always recommend running more fuel than is needed to support the maximum airflow of the turbo. You are also going to need an AFPR with that 255lph FP.

As for the SAFC, I use it to tune my 650's so you won't have a problem there. It's a little harder to tune 650's with the SAFC than it is to tune 550's, but it can be done.

Oh, and don't forget about routine maintenance, boost gauge, exhaust, logger, blah, blah.

EDIT-> By the way, are you saying the DSM's are on the "Dark Side" :p

Dear god dont ever say that word to a new car owner like that, great way to scare them away.

Yes that setup should land you around that area with a good tune, as stated 650's are as big as you want to go on a safc.

And for gods sake do a timing belt/balance shaft belt and water pump before you add ANY mods to your car, it will save you in the long run, i promise

Don't even drive it for a week or two. Do it when you get it home from wherever you're getting it. Tensioner too!

Yes please dont scare him away. Crank walk is about as rare as a honda that can run 11's ROFL j/k though. Crank walk is something that happens to a handful of 95-99 dsm's. What you are suggesting as far as parts sounds good and should bring you to your hp goal pretty reliably. Dont forget a boost gauge.

EDIT: WHOOPS!!! Forgot got to say, welcome to the club!!

ROFL Oh the irony.

To the OP: Welcome, sounds like you're headed in the right direction.

haha it's funny that you said rare as honda that can run 11's because before this dsm, i drove a built all motor b20vtec integra, i think with it fully stripped, it might've dipped into the higher 11's.

but okay what's a logger? what's with all these dsm lingo's? i've been researching about 7 bolts in the 1st, and it seems that they are completely fine in regards to crankwalking, seems to me it's only the 2nd gen 7 bolts that do it. the car is also have lifter tick's which i believe are okay with most dsm guys? i took it to the local mitsubishi dealer and had them check everything, they said the timing belt didn't need to be replaced and did a clean up engine thing and replaced some seals and changed to mobil 1 oil, will i be fine with 550 for 300whp? or is that pushing it? i'm really just wanting a 300 hp dsm that i can drive daily and not have it break down on me EVERYday, maybe just every other day or something :D

but thanks a lot on the inputs so far, i might actually get to like this forum better than honda-tech OMG

a logger plugs into your diagnostic port and lets you read timing, knock, cel's, cts or whatever else you may want to know off the ecu.

they do have lifter tick, next oil change try half a quart of lucas oil stabilizer with some 10w-30 ive seen that help many a time.

550 will be fine with the EVO turbo, its the size that comes in the Evo's so your cool not to mention its been tried and proven there fine.

But all in all remember its a dsm and not a honda, you know what i mean:D

NOOOOOO, no lucas please. Lucas has a problem with foaming in the crank case and oil pan. And that aeration is BAD news. Just do it right if it has lifter tick and either deal with it, or replace them with 3g revised lifters.

HONDUHHHHHHH.
Sorry i had to.
The internals will handle that power just fine.
They have been proven to handle twice that.
I have a dsm that has 180,xxx and still runs 11's(dont know how much longer it will last)
Dont forget your body kit and wing:) j/k
Its not everyday a honda boy comes out of the closet on here.

a honda that runs 12's all motor? i don't know, you can't really knock on that, but yea i am really really infactuated with awd right now, which is why i didn't trade it for a supra turbo, hopefully my plans will work out, i will keep everyone posted i'm picking up a fmic kit today.

Hey man welcome to the club. :dsm:
I think everyone has owned a Honda at some point in their life so dont feel bad when they try to make fun of you for it. LOL

You are going to be spending a lot of time reading if you want to know these cars. The links below should keep you busy for a while. Don't forget to search before posting as ALL of your questions have probably been answered already. Also read all the stickies. Maintenance first before upgrades, and as said do the timing belt and make sure you use an OEM belt. You should probably replace the sparkplug and valve cover gaskets.

Welcome to the club... don't know if I can say that I think this makes 4 post for me.
DSMs as far as I have learned are a whole new animal to themselves. I am a classic car guy but picked up a eclipse for commuting. BAD IDEA Ime almost done swapping the motor tranny.

Do the timing belt and water pump even if they said its good its worth it, i know. Also there is a temp sensor on the lower radiator its worth the 20 bucks to replace it or atleast keep it in mind if u ever have a heat problem. I changed the water pump before i found what i call the evil little sensor. But Im still learning.

I also highly recommend a logger. Personally, after maintenance or even during, i'd pick one up. It's a lifeline all on it's own. engine codes, status, everything you wanna know. Then a boost gauge.

Once thats all done, follow the upgrade paths and you'll be good.

You mentioned you're getting a fmic kit. Why? Do you have any mods that would warrant the major cost of a fmic kit? Try exhaust and intake first. Then move to fuel then turbo/fmic. Fmic won't net any real gains on stock turbo and boost. Just follow the path man, and she'll be a beast.

hey guys i have another question, what's the normal idle for these cars? my car is idling at 1500 constantly, and if i turn on the a/c it goes down to around 800 to 1000 ish...

how much hp can the 14b's handle? and how many psi's?

My friend just had is 14b powered 2g dyno'd about 2 weeks ago. He is running a supra sidemount, 550's, 255, safc and all that goodness at 18psi and he put down 235 to the "front" wheels

I believe that is normal, mine is around 1200-1300 and when the AC comes on it dips to 700-800 rpm.

And yes get a logger, they are fairly inexpensive and can tell you ALOT about your car before something major happens, if it does that is.
