Im buying a car from a friend, its a 92 TSI AWD but he ghetto rigged a FMIC and piping, has a cat back system, and the interior has lots of panels missing, and the body is crappy, dents and faded paint. My first question is, is it worth $2000? and 2nd, THE LEAK! Im thinking turbo seals, but its directly infront of the front, driver side wheel. It not everywhere, but theres a good amount of oil. Looks to be like motor oil... any ideas? Should i buy? THanks guys.

Hmm, I wouldn't spend $2000 on it, $1300 sounds more reasonable. As for the oil leak, it's probably one of two things. If you look under the car and see oil on the bottom of the timing cover, its probably the crank seal. If nothing is there, it could be leaking from the oil filter housing, which is in front of the timing cover. You'll have to peek under and see where its coming from to be sure.

my friend Wanted 2500 for his but "friend" price was 1500 cars fairly straight except the front end wreck which wasnt to bad....other then that it came with alot of shit done jdm swap etcetcetcetcetc

im not complaining....jus remember you get what you pay for.....

Mine front cover had a crack in it and was leaking oil. Make sure it isn't that. the cover is 200 and it isn't fun taking it off. The oil filter and stuff are right they too. Maybe one of those sensors are leaking. I wouldn't pay 2000 for it either. I would tell him 1000. It all depends on what that leak is.

Well, heres some pics. Oh, the oil is coming from the front corners of the head. I figured, head gasket and seals, and what the worst, warped head? Anyway, here she is, pickin er up tomarrow...on the first pic, look at the piping, its pretty gaudy..LOL.

And its got really nice seats, all black ,the company is japanese, it like hankook or han..something i think, w/e. So, not bac for $1400? I think it nice, and it needs work so ill be busy at school...

i dont know much about the techinical terms of cars but i will say i had that problem in my 95 eagle talon there was a bolt missing on were the motor and the transmission connected right near the starter by a bracket and all i know is that that one bolt was leakin completely and uterally quarts of oil i mean in 2 days i ran threw 10 quarts of oil ;/ as soon as i found it and put the right size bolt in the hole the leak stoped completly and if your set up of your 92 is any were near of my car that could be it but i dont know if its any help but atleast i tried

My GSX was leaking oil because I had a bad headgasket. It would leak from the left side of the engine at the head and end up at the oil filter housing. Low point drain, dang laws of gravity! In other words could be the headgasket.

I got the car on the lift and it really needs an oil pan, and a headgasket, and the turbo oil feed holes are stripped, and the drain pulg in stripped, how much is an oil pan and is it a P.I.T.A to get out, cause it looks like it is, it needs rotors and clutch fluid too, but OMG, turn the boost control up a bit, the car really wakes up, im really happy with it...Holds 11ish lbs like cake.

hahah put it like this...i was gonna do the oil pan gasket on mine....got it up...nah i was going to have to drop the whole exhaust and a few other things

getting the oil filter is a bi*** too =-/ had to ummm "modify it"

Haha, funny day today, 1st, me and my buddies aligned the car this morning, its great now, i still need springs, struts, rotors, calipers, yatta yatta. We went swimming at the rock on the outside of town, on the way back, i was crankin bout 12-13lbs, then BANG!...I thought either i caught the exhaust and ripped off the turbo, or i blew the bottom end..I looked all over at my gauges, no boost press...Im thinkin, " oh man, there goes my wallet, LOL" I pull into a parking lot, and im looking for fluid everywhere, metal twisted etc....i open the hood, then...nothing...."What the...?" i see my blow off valve hanging my the pressure tube down next to the tranny fill plug, LOL. It was ghetto rigged on so...it shot off so hard, it dented the hood!...I had my laughs, then 7 zipties later, i was home...

I paid 1500 for mine, it ran fine with no leaks, and a rebuilt head, 1300 sounds more realistic, my car was a 8.5 out of 10. 92 Check the oil reutnr gaskets, timing cover gasket, head gasket, rear main sea, i would check these areas. Most of my leask was from the turbo oil feed line.

Thats where my leak was too, and my oilpan is shot..Todays update is purdy cool. First, i left for school (after my home school), and i installed a tach, but i cant find the tacho wire (white) that goes to the tach in the dash, i was going to tap into that. 2ndly, i noticed my AFR gauge was showing my car was running lean, so i just kept driving, then it started popping and sputtering. Then tonight, the car would barely run, and when it did, like crap...so i flew to autozone just before they closed, and got injector cleaner, NGK V-pwr plugs, some plus grade gas, then drove home, popped the hood, blew out the airfilter, installed the plugs and cleaner...Well...now...i took it for a test drive about 10 mins ago, and now i know that AWD cars can do burnouts, LOL. The cars pull to top end is insane! The turbo spools fast and the power kicks you in the pants...Im happy now!

Yeh, i dont get that, im trying to find a local place to get an intercooler setup with pipes but there isnt anything but autozones and quickie marts...Im gonna order everything i need at once, oh, i met this kid at my school, ive met him before, but i talked to him, he has to 1Gs. Hell sell me a 16, tube headers, 3" turbo back, short ram, injectors and datalogger for $500, that seems like a greatr price to me. He broke a timing belt and fried the head, so hes parting the car...What uya think?
