Hello All,
I am new to posting on DSMTuners but I think I will be on here a lot more :).
I have my 1995 Eclipse GSX that I want to upgrade. I had to take the car in to get my turbo replaced (was leaking oil into exhaust) and thought I would upgrade my turbo while I was at it.
I didn’t want to go too big because I don’t want to stress my stock engine TOO much so I bought the Small 16g turbo.

I understand from reading that upgrading the turbo without upgrading other parts are bad for various reasons but that is kinda why I'm here. I have a few ideas on what upgrades I want to do but possibly you guys could steer me in the right direction if I'm too far off?

The car is completely stock except for the Small 16g that I just put on.
I am going to try to put these upgrades in order from what I think I need MOST to just upgrades that would be nice.
The reason I am putting them in order from what I need most is because I am not made of money but want to upgrade what is most important first! :)

-550cc injectors
-27"x7"x3" Front mount intercooler
-O2 Housing 2 1/2" sensor
-In tank fuel pump 255
-3" stainless downpipe
-Ported Exhaust manifold
-Weapon R bolt on Fuel Pressure Reg (1000 HP supported)

Eventually I want to upgrade the engine and forge the internals but that’s later on.

Do these seem like sufficient upgrades for the turbo?
Do you have any suggestions/comments from experience that those mods will work well that the small 16g turbo?
Finally,
Do you think that those upgrades in that order will be best?

Please also let me know if there is anything critical that I am missing that I didn’t post as an upgrade that could damage my engine if I don’t have it.
Thanks in advance!

With what Jay said, you will need to do multiple upgrades at the same time.

Injectors/Fuelpump/AFC/Logger/AFPR - at the same time

A real good tuning device to go along with the Logger/AFC is a Wideband (I run an AEM wideband and i love it.) Main problem is they aren't cheap unless you're buying a used one.

A boost controller is a great upgrade for any turbo stock or aftermarket, but must be accompanied with a Boost gauge.

Do those first, the FMIC/Ported exhaust mani and O2housing aren't necessary at this point. You can even port your 2g exhaust mani and save some money and work on your port n polish skills.

You can even run on the SMIC and get good gains, the main reason for a FMIC is to turn the boost up and minimize heatsoak. You mentioned you don't want to put stress on engine, staying with a SMIC will keep the engine and your pockets less stressed. Although if you find yourself with extra cash go ahead and grab a FMIC after the fuel management step is under control.

Good luck.

The reason for getting a front mount intercooler is because

1) I slid into a curb after some @SS ran me off the road and hit a curb on the front right side and bent my SMIC. Thats when I took it into the shop and fixed it and also put on the turbo. When I tried to start the car after the turbo was installed there was NO power and the engine kept dying. I noticed there was a huge whole in the intercooler and was leaking A LOT of air. I JB welded it and fixed it for the meantime LOL!

2) I thought that the stock SMIC could only handle 245 hp? Wouldnt I be restricting the airflow a lot when there is going to be more fuel wanting to go into the engine with the upgraded fuel injectors?

I didn't see a boost guage anywhere but you'll need one. Go and purchase a full 3" exhaust, most important and SAFC II and LOGGER for tuning purposes!

As for the high flow fuel rail don't bother waisting your money the stock one will handle what your going to throw at it!

As dsmkid posted FMIC . o2 and manufold not really an issue right now save your money for later.
