wastegate help?

:nono: The hose should be running from your intake mani to your wastegate not compressor housing. About the size a regular vac hose should do the trick.

Running off the compressor housing is not bad. That location gives the most accurate reading of what boost the compressor is generating. Losses through the IC, IC piping, and TB butterfly drop the boost pressure by the time it gets to the IM.

I'm not saying that you should tap into the compressor instead of the IM, but many (including Mitsubishi and Eagle) have had success with tapping the compressor outlet. YMMV.

As far as the vaccuum line size, I agree.

yea that makes alot of since so u think i should tap it into the intake manifold instead of turbo cus then i would be getting the true 6 to 8 pounds that im looking for cus if i tap it off the turbo ## right im lossing boost pressure threw the pipes and intercooler so what do u think? also i have a incabin manual boost controller thats a nock off from ebay!! Yea yea i know LOL

In cabin boostcontrller:nono: the longer the lines the worse it'll work for you. im i right guys?:dsm:

K, that sound better actually. WIhat i want is to only run boost 5 to 6 pounds but I have an 8 pound wastegate so what would have to do to run that amount?

Buy a new wastegate spring. The lowest you can go is the spring strength. The strength of the wastegate is the limiting factor in how low you can boost.

Or if you want to run 0 boost, disconnect the actuator from the WG so that it's free to open. This doesn't mean disconnect the vaccuum line from the WGA, as this will give you "infinite" boost which will probably do nasty things to your car.

k thanxs guys so now Iknow how to hook it up but does it matter what size line i use to hook it up? What size u guys recommend?

I used 3/16" (4.8mm) fuel/emissions hose from Autozone for my compressor->MBC->WGA setup. The shorter you can make it, the better. If you're going with an MBC or EBC, find a place close to the turbo that you can still reach, then figure out the minimum lengths to run everywhere without the hose getting in the way of moving parts (fans) or hot parts (manifold) and without the hose kinking.

I mounted my JoeP IL on top of my radiator and zip-tied the hose to the wiring harness. Stays out of the fans, etc., and it's right there when I pop the hood.

It's not rocket science. Get a line that is roughly the size of each nipple, put it on and secure it down.

He has an external wastegate. You cannot disconnect the actuator from the turbo, that's only possible with internal setups. Your only option is to buy a weaker spring which can be found in many places. PM me for more info.
