ok first off this is my first post so be kind
i have own this car for a year and a half and have only driven it for 2000 miles
now i got a 14b but never got to install it. then i got a small 16g and i installed it and started to run. i was happy until the turbo started leaking all of the coolant near the oil return line. so now i am going to get something else the question is what new turbo should i go with?

i am looking for a bolt on turbo to reach 450hp on stock bottom? but i also don't want too much turbo lag. any comment or suggestions are appreciated

well i'm pretty sure for 450hp to the wheels you're going to have lag no matter what. but for a straight bolt on turbo to put out those kinds of numbers the best bet, imo, is a mitsu 20g.
But like i said, expect lag.

Where exactly is the coolant coming from? Sounds like it could be a simple fix. Check the banjo bolts that attach the hard coolant lines to the turbo. Of course it's up to you if you want to replace the turbo but it sounds like you're being kind of hasty in pulling your 16G because of a coolant leak.
As for 450 hp on a stock 7 bolt block, that may be pushing it. Just some things to consider before slapping that big turbo on there.
As to your original question, the 20G will get you to 450hp and good bang for the buck. Many other options, I'm sure others will chime in.

Also, I just noticed that you are FWD. I have an Evo 3 16G (nowhere close to 450hp) and traction is a significant issue. That's with polyurethane motor mounts, LSD insert, stiff shocks, etc. So be warned.

For price I would reccommend changing over to a Garrett based turbo. With a gst you are going to want some lag at that hp level traction is going to be a problem. I would also say that 450hp on a stock 7bolt is not going to last that long you are going to be right at the limit of the rods. Good luck.

yeah i know i will have some lag
also the 7bolt will be replace in about 2 months with a 6bolt mild built engine.
the thing is that i want a turbo i can reach 450 but i am not planning on bringing the turbo until i get the 6 bolt swap. i just want something that i can explore with. since i am kind of new with mod's and tunning

oh about the leak. when i got the turbo(used) one of the bolts from the oil return line was striped. so i got someone to install a helicoil. but the guy that was doing this told me that it was going to be hard since it was striped to deep. so i think he drill all the way through and that is were the coolant is coming from. so screw it i will stop been cheap and get a real turbo.

Wow, not to sound mean but that is wrong on so many levels. For one, the drilling and tapping needed for the helicoil will cause lots of metal shavings in an oil passage (maybe even the broken tang from the helicoil insert).
Second, if he did actually drill that deep then you're oil and coolant has been mixing all this time. You may want to do an oil change right away and consider a coolant flush if you really beleieve that's what he did. Hopefully that's not the case though.
