I was wondering wich should i go first as im on a really tight budget, if you look in my profile i have the basics plus i have fuel/ecu waiting to go in as soon as i buy a clutch(gotta wait for tax returns!! ah the life of a dsmer LOL!) but after the clutch ill have some extra cash but not alot so with the meth kits bieng 200 dollars i was thinking going this route instead since im on the stock 14b and large intercooler now might hinder spool(im not going to buy a small one as i will be upgrading to 50trim later) so what do you guys think water injection with SMIC or FMIC? Any opinions would help!

oh yeah im going to be getting a logger soon just to check how far i can push the chipped ecu(its has 11:1 afr, extended timing and fuel maps yada yada) i was thinking just go as high as i can until knock (or until turbo runs out of breath)

I would personally go with the fmic for now. There's not really much that's going to hinder the spool of a 14b, and water injection has to be constantly checked and refilled. Just spend the little extra cash on a good fmic and piping.

If funds are limited start with water/meth injection. You can peice together your own kit for far less than $200 and it is just as reliable as the rest. Shop around for the best deal on the pump...most likely ebay, but i found mine on amazon.com for $50 brand new (60psi pump, but pressure can be turned up). Here is the write up i used as a guide...http://members.aol.com/raydorman/

I started this way too. I was running water injection (with windshield washer fluid), stock smic, 14b, and was boosting 22psi with 560cc inj at 75% duty cycle with NO KNOCK.

It is alot less work than installing a fmic. But depending on your goals, BOTH would be the best.

Def decide yourself, which is going to suite you the best. You are going to get mixed opinions from people in here of course. I have a front mount as well, which i love. Your going to want one when you upgrade your turbo anyway or do the meth and just leave it on there when you upgrade to a front mount. If budget is tight get the meth, whichever you decide i really don't think you'll be dissapointed.

Water injection works wonders. One of the guys in my local club runs water injection with a small 16g on the stock sidemount and runs low 12's. I have also saw a 50 trim running 11's with water injection on a Supra sidemount.

thanks for all the info guys, i think im going to be going with meth/water injection cause like a previous guy said you could peice one together for less than 200. i was planning a going to a large FMIC (28X10X3) later on but that would be a pain in rear end to piece together my self(although im going to be fabricating one myself anyway but this time of year im so busy that i cant afford any downtime on my car(daily driver)and i have installed a meth kit on my friends evo and it only took us half a day at most(well we were having a few drinks here and there and talking story alot LOL). thanks for you quick replys

Meth can work wonders for you. More timing, more boost, with no knock, and EGTs are low enough to not melt your cast internals. It also gives you the bragging rights to say, and I did that run on pump gas. I have yet to see anything, or hear anything bad about meth kits. The water keeps the intake charge cooled down by sucking the heat out of the air, it cleans the combustion chamber, and helps get rid of carbon deposits. The meth up's the octane count, and that = better knock supressent.
