As the title states....does the awd transfer case thing need to come out to remove the oilpan from engine? Alldata says it does but it almost looks like it could be wiggled out....
Thanks in advance...

95 GSX, 5spd...

Just changed the fluid like 50miles ago...LOL
Was just not wanting to deal with the bolts on that intermediate shaft on the drivers side...am afraid its going to sag and be a bi*** to put back...
oh well...
Thanks for headsup though, off to work I go..

Iys very heave so make sure to keep a good grip of, and you might as well change the fluid since some will be coming out when you take it off!

yea ill be changing it...doesnt take much anyway...
Shop that did my clutch out these damn bolts so freakin tight ive gotta fire up the compressor and hope my guns powerful enough to take em off without breakin my extensions and swivels :p then again, broken tools means I have an excuse to buy more!!

Actually to take the transfer case and oil pan off, you don't need to touch the intermediate shaft. That shaft fits into the transmission right above the transfer case. There are only 5 bolts holding it on and if the car is on a lift, its maybe a 2 minute job to get it on/off.

Yea I noticed that the intermediate shaft has nothing to do with it...
And I wish I had a lift, :(
I know that when my garage has a lift ill have made it in the world :)

Well just finished..Only had to unhook the exhaust from 2 hangers and unbolt it from o2housing of course...then it wiggled out of the way enough, actually it helped by catching the TC when it fell out :)
.I had to unbolt the 2 bolts holding the intermediate shaft, so that I could move the axle to get to a couple of the oil pan bolts...Maybe I should have mentioned this is a 6bolt swap...Does that even matter?
Anyway, This got me thinking...is the axle supposed to be so close to the oil pan that the bolts are unremovable without moving it?
And what the hell kinda sealant was used to glue the pan on I had a rough time getting it to come off...
