Can anyone tell me if this is a 4 bolt rear? The end are cut off and I need to know before I buy it.

yes, notice the 4 holes so 4 Bolts can attach the 3rd shaft to the rear end. 3 Bolt designs have only 3 bolts there.

Are you saying that 3 bolts only have 3 bolts that attach to the driveshaft? If so, that's not true, they have 4 bolts that attach to the driveshaft and 3 bolts that attach to the axle cupplings.

I am asking if it's a 4 bolt because you can't see the end of the axle's in the picture.

It's going to be hard to tell unless you get a picture of the axle cups. 4-bolt axles are thicker than the 3-bolt axles, but it's not noticeable unless you're looking at them side-by-side.

Oh OK, thats what I was told, guess the kid didn't know what he was talking about. I don't have an AWD so I figured he must have known what he was talking about...guess he didn't. Sorry about that.

How exactly is it that you have three green squares when you give out information like that?

Taken directly from the "Before you Reply"
3. Don't try to help if you don't know the answer - bad advice can be worse than no advice (no "I think" or "I guess" or "I've heard").

You'll need a picture of the axle cups to tell if that's a 3 bolt or a 4 bolt.

I agree 100% with this.

I'd guess it's a three bolt based on the inner CV cup.

From the pictures in the 4 bolt diff swap VFAQ the inner CV joints are quite different too.

The smaller cup being from the 3 bolt diff on the bottom.
