ok, i finally got my car back after having the whole bottom end rebuilt , wiseco pistons , eagle rods new crank bearings ect... all the maintance stuff plus the upgrades in profile. BUT. 2 WEEKS LATER STILL IN THE BREAK IN PERIOD I SPUN A BEARING AND IT SCORCHED THE CRANK!!!!
so im back to square one. but im purchasing a 1g this time. so my ? for you guys is. with the mods i have for my car already, pretty much everything is interchancable with a 1g ( w/minor modifacations) is there anything that im missing, or would help in getting me to my goal of 350 to 400 awhp? as in profile i have the big parts the super 16g, intercooler, bov, boost controler, exhaust, safc, so basically what i wanna know is if i need like a logger if so ### kind? is the safc okay or should i go with dsmlink or another management system? injector size? ect. also is there anything i should grab off of my 2g that would be better performance wise if i put it on the 1g?
i dont wanna go to crazy shes gonna be my dd but i wanna have some fun with her too, i just am not sure and what other supporting mods to get, and im not ashamed when i dont know something so i wanna ask the people who'll know best and i can trust! thanks guys. :thumb: any advice is greatly appreciated and anyone who wants to know more bout the project feel free to ask

a shop named speedtech , ive though about sueing them and all of that but would it really be worth it considering i cant really prove they did something to cause it?

why did it spin a bearing did they not get proper specs on the crank bearing, did the crank get machine work and custom bearings? The crank and bearings were brand new? Any thing you know of that related to it?

Keep the 2g and fix it. It would be more cost effective.

Go and talk to them and see if they are at least willing to help pay for the repairs. At the 2 machine shops I have worked at, we would tear the engine down and determine the cause. Then, we would either take care of the problem at our cost or at least help out on cost if it was an issue caused by the owner.

I like that idea Keith. Some of the parts you have aren't interchangable, like the exhaust, and FMIC ( moddify the 1G bumper). You will be spending much more money with buying a 1G, then getting stuff like a 1G FMIC, 1G exhaust, plus you don't know what else could be wrong with it, atleast with your 2G you know the drivetrain is sound, and that you have to get a new crank, and what ever else in the bottom end. Plus like Keith said most shops will fix it free of charge, or atleast cut the cost way down.

thanks for all the replies back guys, um as far as a reason to what happened i dont know? after it happened i took it to another shop and had them drop the oil pan to fgure out exactly what the problem was ie if it was a rod or a bearing, and the said it was the bearing and when they pulled it off to see if they could just replace the bearings they said the crank was scorched nd the rod as well. never really gave me a reason as to what hapened. i dont really wanna go back to the shop that built it because it took them a year to get this done, and id prefer they dont mess with my car anymore to prevent further damage. ive though about suing them but is that really worth it? i cant really prove it was there fault can i? also i kinda want a 1g the more i look at um i tend to lean toward them anyway. as far as part that are interchangeable i pretty much mean like my mani and turbo bov bc and the front mount i have is universal so i can make some brackets and weld that up. the exhaust i can deal with doing over again no biggie. also i can keep the head from the 2g and swap it on right? anyway thanks for all the opinions let me know what you guys think, im kinda at a fork in the road on this one. i just wanna get back on the road i miss the feeling , im sure yous all understand that LOL

Sounds like you didnt go to a reputable shop, and a year to do is crazyness.
I agree with everyone else, getting a 1g would be more expensive, just the money you wouldve spent buying a decent 1g wouldve well be enough to fix your engine now.
Besides you also have to look at, the 1g is older, more problems awaiting, more things needing replaced, and if it doesnt have a rebuilt tranny I can guarantee that the tranny is in pissy condition on the 1g... If you really like the 1g platform more and got money to spend then go for it, but trust me youd have an easier route just fixing the 2g.
Find yourself a good mechanic, and only allow that one mechanic to work on your car, when you start switching and trying different mechanics often stuff like this happens..
Make sure a dsm guy works on a dsm, for instance I wouldnt take my car to a muscle car mechanic to get fixed, Ive been swindled by a few grimey scumbag mechanics who didnt know what they were doing as well and ive learned from it also...

So worst case scenario is you could get out of it with a new crank and bearings that fit it properly. thats much cheaper than another project.
