Hi guys, bought my first DSM a few weeks ago ( ok not my true first but the first one that runs and drives). Its a 92 eclipse awd 5sp turbo, bone stock.
Just some insite on me, Im a newbe to DSM's but not cars I know the time and work it takes to build a car, the first car I built was a 1970 roadrunner with a 440 4 speed from the ground up! So I have the heart for cars and the work it takes. I do need a little help with the newer technology that these cars have. So I look forward to working all of you that have put in the wrench time on these cars. My main goal is to build this car right, no hack jobs here. Mainly 1/4 mile action with street driveability.

My first plan of attack is
1. 2 1/2" exhaust down pipe back no cat. ( got it free NEW or it would be 3")
2. boost controler
3. boost & air/fuel gauges
4. K&N air filter
These are parts I have that will be going on this weekend

suspention, Need some input here, Ok as mentioned above this car is going to be a street strip car. I have looked through this site for input but the only thing I seem to come up with is every one saying do it right the first time. That I can relate too, but what is the right way? My shock and spring budget is $500-700. I would like to lower the car about a 1 1/2". So if any of you have any input on set ups you have for this price range that would be great as that is the next attack plan as the shocks are shot and rattle as I go down the road:dsm: Thanks Dan

If you don't wanna get coilovers, which the Tein ones are great. My buddy had a nice setup on his talon, it was eibach prokit with KYB AGX all around. The AGXs were adjustable struts. It was a pretty nice ride.

Welcome aboard and congrats on finding a stock DSM that runs nice.

I'm not sure how new you are or how familar you are with the site, but http://www.dsmtuners.com/sub.php?page=1gtupgrades is a great guide to upgrading the car. It seems you're on the right path anyways.

As for suspension, i'm in the same boat as you. There are tons of different views on differnet suspensions. Try a search and see what people say.

i have the same setup JUST2ASIAN was talking about on my 90' tsi and it ride and squats nice. a lil ruff over bumps but ull get that with most of them

A very common suspension upgrade, which works very nicely for these car is the KYB AGX with Ground Control coilover setup. This gives you the adjustability for height as well as the adjustability of stiffness for the front and rear. This also will allow you to tune your suspension for how you want it at the track as well as on the street.

Cool car to build (70 Roadrunner). One of my cars was a 70 'Cuda - 383 - A727 auto, one hell of a car (in a straight line).

Your list looks fine except for one thing......I wouldn't put the A/F gauge in as it's basically just a light show. The narrow band O2 just doesn't have enough resolution to make any reading (light) worth much outside of stoich. Now a wide band would be more useful, or even a true oil pressure and/or water temperature gauge. Hell I would even put in an Amp gauge before a A/F gauge.

Suspension.....I don't have a 1G so others will have to give a recommendation, but I can say that I use the Ground Control setup on my car and can agree it's a great combo with a nice set of shocks to wrap around. And agree, on a spring/shock combo....don't go cheap or you will regret it.
