alright my rings blew on my engine what do you guys think i should do build it like new rod, pistons or pistons and rings, or just replace the rings. so choices...

1. Rods & Pistons
2. Pistons
3. Replace Rings

if so what pistons/rods/rings? ohh yeah i'd like it to be safe to run around 600hp just for reasons....

alright dude. if your rings blew like you say, most likely, you also blew the cylinder walls (most likely), if i were you, i would take the block to machine shop and make it hone it, or rebuild the cylinder walls if you want to go standard bore. as far as for pistons (arias, JE, Ross, etc), www.slowboyracing.com, carries very nice sets, but they go for 480$ +. the first thing to do, is to take out the block and inspect it, there´s no reason to put new pistons and rings, if they would have play inside, and would make you loose compression. personally, after the block inspection, i would go with, pistongs and rings. you would take a while until you reach 600HP and then think about changing rods. good luck. :thumb:

Man not really. You can just hone the cylinder walls out your self if the walls are not scared or anything. If not do a rod and piston combo get the crank checked put new main bearing, rod bearings and do a balance shaft eliminator kit and you will be set.

dude, if he blew rings, most likely (thats what i said on my post) he messed up a cylinder wall or walls. remember there are 4 of them. anyway, lets think thats not the case. he said he wanted aftermarket pistons, most likely he would need to take out the block and hone it to make them fit. do it right, the first time. i also gotta mention, that if the walls are worn, you won´t be able to tell without the special machinery. inspect the block, just to save you a headache in the future. listen to a good advice, don´t think right now, on buying things, take the block to the machine shop and go from there and so on. i wouldn´t like to hear him cry, because he has low compression because you just ¨thought¨ that the cylinder walls were fine. just my 2 cents. good luck. :thumb:

If you're gonna go for some high HP numbers in the future you might as well get forged rods and pistons while the engines all apart, it's gonna suck having to tear down the motor again to put rods in down the road. My cheap ass bought a wiseco piston/ eagle rod combo on ebay for 680 beans. Do it right the first time, it'll save you some swearing.
