Vee,
I went for a test drive wit a 99 gsx and when i pressed on the gas hard the turbo made a winding noise sounded like a really high pitch "Zingggggggggggggg" the owner said its due to the aftermarket intake but i driven another gsx and it had a cone filter as well but it didnt make the same noise . Is the zingg normal if you have a cone filter ? sorry havent driven alot of turbo charges cars -_-

Have the owner pull the intake and grab the compressor wheel by the shaft nut. If it moves in and out, it's on it's way out the door. A bit of side to side play is acceptable however. If the noise you're hearing isn't metallic in nature, then it may indeed be the sound of the turbo spooling through the intake. Smaller turbos like T25's, 14B's and 16G's often sound like vacuum cleaners while the larger ones are quieter.

Let us know what you find out,

Andy

Zing is normal as long as there is no in/out shaft play as Andy pointed out.

This reminds me of a buddy that came running to me in a panic after buying a turboed civic. He kept on saying the car goes WOOOSHHHH when he shifts...he was freaking out that there was a major air leak somewhere on the engine. Little did he know that was the BOV :D His first turbo car...sorry that was off topic just thought I'd share that....

hmm ok well can u guys give me some pictures of what you guys want me to move im only starting to get into cars so im a complete newbie thats why i am here :p . and the owner isnt too educated wit cars as well
