XS/SSAC is a great front mount. Very cheap and very good quality. I've boosted up to 27 psi and have had mine for well over a year and love it. I'm sure the more expensive ones are great too, but for the price and quality, you can't beat XS/SSAC.

The consensus is eBay FMIC are a good buy, unless you are seriously trying to squeeze every last ounce of horse power out of an engine.

Normal eBay sells dirt cheap products and the question is what is the CFM rating for those FMIC. If the seller doesn't mention it it's probably a way below sub-par.

I have and SSAC style intercooler that I bought from E-bay. Overall I like it but I had to get all new clamps because the ones that came with it stretched out as I tightened them and I needed one extra long coupler. The intercooler functions fine for my B16G at 20psi.

I do have a J-pipe from ETS that added $90 to my FMIC kit but made install so much easier. And after seeing the quality of this one pipe form ETS, and how much better the craftsmanship and quality is than the piping with the e-bay kit, I would say that the ETS kit is well worth the money if you have it to spend but the E-bay kit can get you by on a budget if that is what you need.

I like the XS power intercoolers from SSAC. I have one myself. Just watch out for the do it yourself piping and cheap intercoolers on ebay. My friend has on and the couplers blew apart and into pieces after one run. My friend wrapped a round off ducktape and newpaper around his cheap ebay kit. He also tried to use vacuum hose to make the piping work. It still blew it apart.

I have a no-name eBay FMIC and do it yourself aluminum piping. It's been on my car for years and I push 20+ psi through it. All the parts from the pipe and couplers to the t-bolt clamps were bought from different vendors on eBay. I cut and beaded the pipes myself. I have never blown off a coupler. Duct tape, newspaper, vacuum hose and blown couplers only proves that someone doesn't know what they're doing. Take some time and look through the thread I referred to in post #6 and you find dozens of good examples of quality do it yourself eBay FMIC installations. One of those installations is in my gallery. It's easier to spend more money and have someone else do most of the work. There's satisfaction in doing it yourself, saving money and getting similar results. Isn't that one of the reasons DSM's are still kicking butt?

He ended up getting intercooler piping, clamps, and couplers from SSAC. The diy intercooler kits come with couplers that blow into pieces.

I just installed my ebay core and piping from egay and im satisfied with everything, got plenty of tbolt clamps left over and 2 long ass pieces of piping left over too, I did it short route on mine.

What about those of us who do know about intercoolers and still buy SBR or ETS?
(or DVDT, ShearerFab, et al.)

There is a difference in the core. Even among "premium" cores there are differences; the Garrett I just bought works better than my Spearco (and is smaller too.)

Yes there are. The SSAC style one does not allow you to because it mounts to the fog light mounting holes but there are guys that have other E-bay ones that still allow the fogs to stay.

You could try shooting a PM over to laynbdyon20s, he just recently did a huge front mount and still has his fogs.

The bezels do still fit as well they just are not on in this photo.

There is a reason that I said MOST people. There IS a difference in the core, but many and not willing to fork out an extra $500. With that said, I'll probably be looking at ETSs short route core if I ever get my car built to where I want it to be.

I've been looking through this thread(75 pages!)and I like the core that is offered in the 2g Ebay kits,but I have a 1g. How much different is the pipe routing? Would it be pain to install? I have a small 16g on my a/t Eclipse,if that helps. I looked at the core for the 1g on XSPower website and I don't like it,I think the 2g would route better,and the 1g piping looks very excessive. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No worries, it took me quite a while to make that list, I keep it on hand for such occasions. I was going to go that route, then decided if/when I upgrade I'm going to spend the money and get myself a "quality" FMIC instead of cheaping out on a "get you by" setup.

i have mine and love it, i boost a 50 trim @ 25 psi through it and it seems to pull harder than when I had my greddy 24R on.

I have 1 quick question about these ebay intercooler.

I messed up on my order and bought a 2.5'' thicks core but I wanted the 3.5'' thick. What is the difference in performance between the 2?

this is the 3.5'' thick but its the same kind as the one i ordered, its just 2.5'' thick.
