Will flexible copper tubing work as a water line?

I have my 6 bolt ready to go but I need to get the water line from the oil cooler to the t-stat housing but I dont have the factory 6 bolt line and my 7 bolt one doesnt fit. Would the copper tubing take the heat of the engine bay and hold good? I know people use it for the oil pressure gauges so would this be a good idea or not?

It would work. Being subjected to water/coolant, the line would experience far less pressure and temperature than it would with oil. It seems a little difficult to work with, however. Have you thought about just using SS braided line?
