Hey guys i did a stupid thing and removed my upper honey comb from my MAS and since then the car will stutter, and buck every so often but often enough to become annoying. it only occurs when im giving it a little more than 1/4 throttle. and i heard somewhere on this site about someone doing "the straw method" and i would like to know if this site has a "how to" of one of those??? im sure i could figure it out for myself but i wouldent feel right playing the guessing game so if anyone can inform me of what this is and how to do it id appretiate it before i go to the dealer tomarow and find out how much a replacement one costs

No idea. Sounds ghetto. Why don't you just put the honeycomb back in??...don't tell me you threw it away.

??...don't tell me you threw it away.

.....yikes i guess i wont then but is a 2nd gen MAS a direct swap??? or do i have to like swap the connectors??? i messed up the upper honeycomb pretty bad it's FUBAR because my dad decided to slap me on the back when i was cuting it out and i crushed it arg

I remember when I damaged my honeycomb when it was off the car. I had a crapped out one available. I carefully cut the glue and removed the honeycomb from the donor MAS, enabling a transplant.

all the junk yards here have tons of 1G's and very little 2G's the catch is that any of the ones that were turbocharged nolonger have a motor period.....but swaping a 2nd gen MAS looks easy, and obviously better for the car so i will try going to the dealer and asking how much one off of an 95-98 talon TSi will cost if it's too expencive ill just look somewhere on here for one thats been unhacked :)

You're looking at spending a pretty penny for a brand new MAS from mitsubishi. Just hitup the classifides or dsmtrader.com and see if you can find one for about 50-75 shipped.

Goodluck.

Better yet, go to the junkyard and look for galant, eclipse/talon, expo diamante, montero, 3000gt/stealth (not sure turbom or non-turbo)or colt vista's with the 2G MAS. 1993-99 or so. Bring a pic of one for refrence.

okay so the dealer is looking to rape my wallet, but i DID go back to the junkyard and got the MAS off of a mistubishi starion turbo....the connectors are different but i also cut off a section of the male end of the starions MAS to connect it, my question is does anyone know if i can just rewire the starions MAS to mine?? if anyone has a conversion pic of it id appretiate it, this way i know which wires go to where

or if i put the honeycomb from the starion to my MAS if that will solve me whole problem??? i need help LOL thanks for all the info so far, and the more to come :thumb:
