I'm just wondering who's got or thinks they've got the quickest Dsm in our area- 1/4 or 1/8th mile. Not bench racing by saying what you think your car would run, cold hard evidence of a fast run :hellyeah:

I would have to say that Shawn (Toyotaturbo) or whatever his name on here is probably has the fastest DSM in our region at the moment as far as I know. There are quite a few fast ones just outside of our region but he is the fastest that I know of around here.

If you're counting the states listed in the header on the page, going off the 1/4 mile times list, it's Andrew Kisner (Front Line Fabrications guy).

I don't know of anyone local who's gone faster and still has a car together. Some guys in NC have gone faster though. Ken made big power but never made a successful pass.

There's also a guy in Md I know of, Justin Barnes, that never gets on the forums that I know of, that runs 9.6s. He bought a pretty well documented car on DSMtalk.

For the WIN:
Is Justin Barnes the guy with the UUBER clean black 1G talon with the automatic and air-water intercooler? I saw him run at Crapitol doing that 9.6 @ 147mph. I think he has Shawn beat for now. He trailers the car to the track but i'm not sure if the is streetable or not. I believe his current radiator set up he said runs too hot for traffic situations. But Justin's car, issues or not, has been running consistent mid to high 9's the last couple track outings i saw it. Not to mention him and his dad are some real cool guys to talk to . :thumb:

Some other Local Competition:
1WhiteGSX has ran 11.0 @ 129 ish a number of times, fighting the fight to hit a high ten in his '96 GSX 5speed. He has ran 11.1@ 127 on pump gas in full street trim. He has a beater but daily drives the car when the weather is nice and that built set up treats him well.

Super Stock Runner Up LOL :tease:
Not the fastest cars, but myself and 311GSX have put down some decent numbers working with stock worn out engines and transmissions. 311GSX has his talon running mid 12's on a HEAVY full weight 1g with a 14b and now has stepped it up to a 16g. For a turbo that small to move that much weight, he's got it running right. I impressed myself last night with a new pump gas best. Running 11.8 @ 120 on only 93 octane. The shocking part for me is it managed to do this while running a A/F ratio of 10.2-11.2 and only up to 8* of timing. Once i get the tune dialed in this should put down some more worth #'s. But for now both my 1g and 311GSX's are doing pretty darn well for stock motor/trans (i have 272s and a BSE kit installed), both with over 100k miles that are daily driven when the weather is nice and always driven to and from the track when racing.

What are some more note worth dsm's in this area you can think of. I know RACESTAR will come up the next time we have this talk, but man just a couple more speed bumps in the way on the road to his big turbo set up.

Now i know the title is asking who the fastest dsm is in our region, but i feel like these cars are note worthy, and i almost forgot the car that made me jump in to the Holset club, Talondave of western MD has run 10.3 on his HX40 powered 1g talon, but again i believe that car is now more of a trailer queen. I can't blame him, that car moves out it's no surprise considering the work he has in it now.

Gooberlog, i think i plan on putting my link in within the next week or two, maybe the whole motor setup if moneys right, But more likely the link and tuning the 16g to try to make it to ecm meet, showdown and import vs domestic, interested in lending a hand on the setting up and tuning?

Setting it up I had a friend help me so I may not be of much help there. As far as tuning, i know the very basics of it and how the dsm link basic functions operate and not a whole lot more yet. I haven't played with it as much as i would have liked to since i got it, but luckily I have had some help. I'm sure if we were able to get it up and running we could get you a tune in the ball park to make some ok power if everything else was running ok. I should have some more free time after this up coming week. Hit me up and I'll try to help.

I agree. Justin's car is very nice, I wouldn't consider it very streetable though because of the radiator and IC setup.

I drive my 9 second car an hour to the track and an hour home. And around town to the local meets on the weekends. But it's not quite as fast as Justin's car. YET ;)

Wow Dave, I know you've been in the game for a while, but i didn't know you had your car running like that. Good stuff! You plan on racing at the mason dixon drag day?

It depends. I changed some things on the car and it went the wrong direction. Made some changes that I expected to pick up 5ish mph and instead I lost 5mph. So I'm going back through what I did to fix the problem (I suspect my turbine housing choice to be the issue) and if I have it possibly fixed by then I may. Otherwise I already know what the car does as it sits. My car technically I guess is really only a solid mid-low 10 car. On my old setup it went 9.9ish once (and that was my only real pass of the night) and I got booted from Richmond Dragway. Since then I changed some stuff and it's back in the 10s. But I'm sure I'll figure out the problem and get back in the 9s soon. I guess I should just be happy the car has been able to do all this without ever needing a call to AAA haha.
