today was the first day I have driven my car other than for test driving it. I noticed the autometer EGT gauge that was installed doesn't seem to be working properly. The gauge was reading 1600 F and I was at idle then would flutter around then go to 1600 again.

also I was wondering about the A/F gauge (narrow band) I know the readings fluctuate and it not going to be precise but the reading are all over the place jumping from lean to rich even while cruising at a steady speed is this normal? I plan on buying a wide band in the near future this just has me wondering if somethings not right. (I am extremely paranoid that I'm going to break something LOL)

thanks for any info/help

The EGT probe could just be shot or a bad connection somewhere. As for the AFR gauge, that is normal. In closed loop the ECU takes readings from the front o2 sensor and rehire to keep a stoic ratio of 14.7. The sensor will read lean and then rich and back to lean again to matzoh that ratio. If you go into open loop the reading will be more precise on a wideband but the ratio will remain at a constant as the ECU assumes the ratio is right.

I found out why the EGT gauge is not working properly.... I finally had some time to trace the wires to find the probe and in is just tucked in the engine bay behind the drivers side headlight.... ughhh :ohdamn: I think I am going to pull out all the wiring/gauges that were already installed who knows what kind of hack job the previous owner did
