I picked this 97 RS mt up for cheap to drive and keep some miles off my truck. Hoping to have it out and about this weekend. It had sat for awhile and needed some things to be reliable. Hoping to find some wheels, anything but the ones on it, and maybe meet some people.

Planning to keep it simple, but still enjoy it. I modify everything I own, but trying to keep this reliable.

Sitting about a year, 139,000 miles. Don't know about the timing belt.

It was sitting and filthy, but some fresh oil and a new battery and terminal and it started up with just a little puff of smoke. Doesnt smoke now that it has been run around a bit. Going to do plugs, wires and tune-up stuff, but I know little about cars. I build and drive lifted trucks. It is said to leak some oil, but haven't really got into the car much other than seriously cleaning it. It does have a check engine light on now, but for $500 it runs and drives pretty good. SOme dings here and there, but not a bad looking cheap car.

So I did a bunch of cleaning and basic maintenance this weekend after I got my plates and ins. Also picked up some wheels since the tires were dryrotted on the factory rims.

Still not perfect and likely will never be, but a solid car. New brakes, battery, plugs, oil, stereo, n such made for a nice difference. Want to touch up some paint spots on front bumper cover, tint the windows, figure out power steering isse, maybe replace suspension and actually get to enjoy it. It should be all done for under $1,000.

Where did you find one for so cheap? I bought my eclipse off craigslist for $400 but it needed A LOT of work.

I got it in Cincinnati. It was my bro-in-law and he was going to donate it to Goodwill. Actually traded a gun and cash for it. Bought for about $450 and now have about $850 in it and it it all works but the PS needs replaced, but I have had pump for 3 weeks and just too lazy to do it since it is still pretty easy to turn. It really has no major issues and is definitely a nice little daily driver.

Yeah It looks great i wish i would had been as lucky. You got a great deal and did a great job cleaning it up.
