Just an update here since it has been a while. I have everything done and should get the car back any day from having stainless steel piping custom made. For those of you who don't know what my car is I have listed the details below. I will have photos up as soon as the car is back in my driveway.

Thats Fricken sweet dude. As soon as its done we should meet up I havent found many MN ppl on here.
Ya for sure I would be up for that for sure. Always good to meet new people in the mitsu croud.

ive been contemplating this idea for a long time now...thanks for more motivation...any pics of this beast??

If you decide to do AWD I have 3/4 of the parts for it for ya so let me know.

i have a question, now you dont have to answer this but, roughly, how much would i have to spend to do the converson. (assuming i do all work myself)

If your only doing the drivetrain components with used stock parts, Im gonna say anywhere fro 1500-$2500 depending if you pick up a donor car or things seperatly.

Im about to do this conversion myself as soon as I can find a AWD shell.

thats what i was thinking...sux i let a TSi AWD slip through my fingers, only thing missing was the engine and seats! Everythign else was there, guy wanted $600....oh and it only had 60k miles on it...

i was waiting for you to chime in...yeah, i called the guy back and was in my car to go pay him, and he sold it for $500, 20 min before i called him...i should called him when i first say the damn add!!!

Be patient!! I will have pictures as soon as it comes back from the fab shop. They are just finishing up on all of my intercooler piping and intake system.

Well just an update. I got the car running and made it to the local cookout here in MN. I received 1st in the 2g category. Here are the much wanted pictures.

So can anyone give me an exact weight of an awd spyder? Also can anyone post up times of some of the fastest awd spyders out there? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

By the way mine is already awd... just no motor in it so i can't tell how much it would weigh. Plus I am interested in some times to know what I would have to outrun if I continue on in this project...

That doesn't belong here. Way to hijack his thread. Start your own as it has nothing to do with the OP's topic. It may be about an AWD spyder but it belongs in its own thread :nono:

You are absolutely right, it is about an awd spyder. I was hoping the person that posted this thread or someone that has posted in it could provide me with some info on his (or similar) car such as weight and time. I wasn't trying to sound cocky, just joking around about the little statement but evidently some people don't have a sense of humor anymore. I didn't want to start a new thread about ANOTHER awd spyder, it already looks like there is too MANY and this was the most recent. I found my answer from somewhere else that doesn't mind helping people with info instead of trying to bash people of supposively hijacking a thread this old. So get off my back.

Depends on what you do to the car and cost of donor. I picked up a donor for $400 but it had been sitting for a while so had to clean, treat and paint the rust.
Then add in the cost of new exhaust and any maintenance items you want to replace such as brakes and u-joints. You can save money if you need control arms just use the ones off of the FWD - there is another thread about them being interchangeable.

My conversion was expensive but I went with rm sway bars, energy suspension bushings and sheps stage 2 and had to buy some lower control arms because I did not realize they were interchangeable.

Nice to see you on here.
Another local DSMer....with an AWD Spyder. Love the black.

I've always wanted to build an AWD spyder when I first heard about them years ago. I think it would be a nice touch to change the bumpers and badges to a Talon for the ulitmate WTF

2gb talon bumper and lights on spyders are beautiful
