Steering an lines.

Hey every one so I'm in the process of replacing my power steering rack,
And I would like to remove the old hard/ rubber power steering lines from rack to reservoir and pump, I have not found much info on this but I did find this fittings that look like they could work.
I'm just trying to get some opinions and some more info.

There is some info in my build blog on what I did with mine. I didn't go with AN fittings, but I did build new lines and rerouted them.

I don't have sources for the actual pressure fittings since a local shop crimped them onto the new lines, but it may give you some ideas.

Yeah I seen yours, it looks good my idea was to go with an fittings and run the
Under the frame from rack to reservoir and not from the top.

hey guys im almost all set up with lines and stuff to do everything an as i start doing ill be posting up pics.
i was wondering if any one knows the right size for a banjo fitting so i could replace this line,
so i could have a braded line connect to it with a banjo fitting.

I used JIC fitting instead AN fittings.I fabbed SS hose to the cooler, tank, pump and steering rack.I have some photos in my gallery

I bought the hose and JIC fittings at the local CAT dealer in Durango Colorado

Super clean man! Good job. Im heavily thinking about doing every line in braided and nylon hose.

Is this difference between the jic and an lines just the pitch of the thread? They look the same to me.

There is a small difference,check with your parts house.I did the fuel p/s and oil cooler lines with the same hose.I think it looks better than the SS hose look.

hey guys i have some updates



this fittings will be going on the power steering rack.


and this are the lines that will be going from the rack to the pump.

more to come next week.

on the power steering pump, i will be cutting the metal fitting thing that goes on to the pump weld a 6an weld on male bung and then bolt a Teflon hose end and face it down.
it will look something like this.

High pressure AN stuff is specifically different. The hose ends are steel instead of aluminum, and they asist sealing with a ferule (for non-crimped ends). Also, the hose is teflon lined.

hey guys no updates for now,
im in the process of taking out the sway bar, t case and down pipe so i can swap the power steering rack for the new one.
then ill be mocking up all the lines.

Just to clarify, AN fittings are superior to JIC.

What is the difference between aircraft AN fittings and JIC fittings

hey guys i have a question regarding the power steering line coming off the rack on to the reservoir.

the line comes from the rack and goes to the passengers light and then routs back to the reservoir.
my question is can i eliminate that big Lupe and just have it coming off the rack straight to the reservoir?

if not.
can i juts run the line coming off the rack the same way as the stock one?
the line im using is braided line so im trying to figure it out if i do have to connect it to the hard line in front of the radiator what will be my options.

any help would be great

I don't think I would eliminate it completely. This is my opinion:

The line out front is the power steering cooler. You can eliminate it safely.

The reson for me to do all of this lines is to hide them as much as possible, I'm trying to avoide having to use a cooler.
I just whanted to know for sure it's safe to be removed or if I just replace it with the extended braded line coming off the rack.

I believe it's safe to remove the power steering cooler. Often people remove it to fit their fmic.

If you're going to autocross or something in that sort. I would probably think otherwise.
