Power steering mod?

Has anyone done the power steering cutout mod, and have some feedback on it? All I can find are a few threads from several years ago, but no results posted.

Yes, did this to my 1g, worked great. No real side effects that I noticed.

Cool deal... I went ahead and did it also, as part of my PS pump rebuild. Hopefully it will be a good improvement.

I wrote a tech article on it. If you get a chance, please check it out and let me know how my spacers compare to what you used, and if I left anything out.

Very nice article and good work cleaning that pump up. I used a section of aluminum tubing that was the right diameter and cut the 3.5mm section out as per the VFAQ. Your shims will probably work fine though.

Out of curiosity, did your housing have the alignment pin for the side plate, or was it missing like mine?

Can't say that I recall. I did it a couple years ago. I do remember messing around with the pump a lot trying to get everything right.
