I did a quick search and haven't really found what I was looking for.

I picked up new shocks and springs for my 2g FWD. I attempted to remove the sway bar end link from the shock fork in the front and failed. My 98 has the type with the hex key in the middle of the stud on the ball joint, but after a couple turns, it stripped right off. This is after lots of PB blaster too. I decided to play it safe and order new ones to replace them while I'm doing the suspension, but I still need some help on how to remove both bolts? If I don't hold it with the hex key, the whole thing spins and I have nothing else to hold it still with the hex key slot stripped.

Thanks,

The older versions don't have the nut. Your best bet is to dremel it off. Order new OEM endlinks, as they are revised and use a nut (like Jeff said) instead of that retarded hex key.

i just ordered a new one for the rear this past week, it used the hex key.... the old ones that were on the car used the 14mm on the back side which ended up stripping out.

i ended up cutting the old one off which took a while, but its your only solution for getting it out

If you're already planning on replacing it why not get in with a narrow pair of vice grips and keep it from spinning that way to avoid risking damage to your car? I've used that technique on similar parts with great success. If you have to you can strip the rubber boot off to get more working room.
