KYB Strut Warranty Contact Information

Curious to know if anybody has any information regarding how to take advantage of KYB's Lifetime Warranty on their struts. I recently had the lower "Spring Leg" on my front passenger side KYB strut completely detach from the strut assembly, causing the spring to fall (along with the rest of my car) to the bottom of the strut assembly. Luckily I was only going about 30 mph when this happened.

I'd like to contact KYB regarding this as I would have to assume that a failure of this nature would be covered under their warranty.

I've attached a strut diagram to show exactly what the lower "Spring Leg" is, for those that do not know.

I don't believe that's cover the warranty unless is it clearly the strut fault and not human installation error. I mean even though KYB offers a lifetime warranty they have to keep a tight leash on who gets warranty to maintain their profit-cost margin.

I hit a small section of concrete that was dug out and then (half assedly) filled with gravel and was then left unmarked by the local road crew.

Agreed, but how would the the lower spring leg failing be an installation error? The strut's structural integrity was obviously crap for it to fail in that manner. As for their profit margin... I would think that it would be more in danger if I my strut was to fail and cause a fatal accident in the process. Hmm... $70-100 strut or possible million dollar lawsuit?

Usually you contact the seller to file a claim (for example I filed mine with Summit) but on their website they list the following contact information.

To contact us using conventional methods:

Perfect! Thanks Steve.

Do you, or anyone else here, happen to have any verbiage regarding KYB's warranty on their products? It'd be nice to know EXACTLY what their warranty state's before I give them a call.

Here's a pic that I took of the failed strut. Notice how the spring is sitting all the way at the bottom of the assembly.

You need to take it up with the township you had the issue with. You can sue for damages they can not tear up a road and let it damage cars.

Unless you live somewhere like Pittsburgh where potholes are everywhere, and you are laughed at if you try and file a claim. And that is from personal experience.
