vernon,
Will enkei rpf1 17x9 rims with 35 offset fit on my 1g over some big brakes and do I need to do any other work so it doesn't rub anything . I have 1.5 inch drop with eibach springs

You may run into some clearance issues on the inside. My buddy's 1G runs 245/40 on a 17x8 with a 35 offset and is very close to the dampner. He's running Eibachs and AGXs.

What size tires are you planning on running? Fender work may be required depending on how tall your tires are and camber

I would like to keep the overall diameter as close to stock as I can get and be able to run with a bit of rubber over the edge of the rim so not to get curb rash because it's my daily driver. I may need to go to a rim not as wide suggestions are appreciated.

Is it me or is internet English becoming offul?

ps. 17x8s with a 245/40/17 tire made to protect the rim (e.g., Kumho MX) might be better than 17x9s

Lots of threads on tires for 1g cars on here, poke around a bit :)

17x8 with a +38 offset and 245/40 rubber comes millimeters from the spring support on the strut in front. It also barely clears the rear suspension arms (less than 1cm). As tight as it is on the inside the tires still stick out 2" in front and are flush with the rear fenders.

Unless you want to roll/bend out/flare your fenders go with a 17x7.5 wheel. A 17x9 will be impossible unless you have coilovers AND flares and play with offsets a lot until you find the right combo.

Visit this thread for the research and fitment concerns on 17 x 9 inch wheels on a 1g.

Oh, and if you used spell check like I do, you would know the word is offal, Mr. Professor.

That's Doctor Professor, thank you very much. I didn't spend six years in evil graduate school to be called Mister.
