Camber kit for 2G uneven tire wear :(

I actually run the DIY mod and had the front aligned by a Mitsu dealer. With 1 degree of negative camber all the way around, I no longer have excessive tire wear issues after 6K miles on my current setup. I'd do the DIY mod and have everything professionally aligned.
 
If the bolts become loose, a shim can fall off, but a washer can't.

Shims are used because they are easier, not because they are better.

You're riding on suspension components fabricated from sheet metal. Do you think enough force will be generated to crush or somehow deform steel washers?
