I've been thinking about getting some new rims. I think the stock ones look pretty good already, but they're a bit narrow and I don't like the way they're kind of tucked inside the fenders. I've got 215/50's on there now, and may want to go with a 225 sometime in the future. Anyway, I'm debating on whether to get 16" or 17" rims. My car has coilovers and adjustable shocks/struts, but I have it at stock height in the rear and 1" higher than stock in the front. At stock height, the car scraped the front end a lot, which is why I have it set up that way. The roads in Baltimore are also pretty crappy, and I have to drive over a lot of speed bumps going to work. I'm also on a limited budget, and 16" rims and tires are a lot cheaper than 17's. I also got new tires last year, so if I got 16's I could just have them taken off of the stockers and mounted on some new ones. I know that bigger rims without a drop usually make the gap look a lot bigger, so that would be a factor if I went with 17's, since I am going to keep the ride height the same as it is now. Just looking for some opinions. Anyone got any pics of aftermarket 16's on their 2G?

my friend has 16's on a '96 eclipse GS. i don't have pics but they don't look to bad cept there chromies...

I'd go with 17x7 or 17x8. You are gonna pay more for tires, but you will have a better look with less sidewall. Keep your stock rims for the winter if you live in a cold climate. The weight isn't bad at all going to 17's as well as long as you pick a nice alluminum alloy wheel. Konig, Motegi, as well as most found on Tirerack.com and Discounttiredirect.com will do fine. I've got Konig Tantrum 17x7 and they rock. You can pick them up for about 160 - 180 a piece.
