Koni Illumina

Koni Sport
KYB AGX
Tokico Illumina

You're really not going to find a good deal on the Koni Sports. They're the most expensive, but they're also the most expensive for a reason.

Sorry about that, i had something else im my mind..........

I know i won't be able find something cheap but i want
to get my moneys worth, i don't want to get gr2 and have
them go bad in a couple months....

what's your suspension setup? Are you lowered or planning on lowering over the life of these shocks? If you're staying on stock springs, you don't need anything too crazy. I have Tokico blues and they definitely give a great ride. A little firmer than stock. If you're looking to drop, than getting a set of adjustables might be a good idea. But then again, if it's just going to be a mild drop 1-1.5", you can still use Tokico blues. It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you're looking to use them for.

Car has been lowered, i don't know how much its been lowered do because thats the way i bought it from the local dealer (car was a trade in) they could not tell me anything really about it........thats why i wanted to go with adjustables. Is your car lowered??? how long is it that you had your shocks installed???

Stop it right now.

Shocks need to match the rates of the springs, not their length (or the ride-height). Using shocks with large amounts of compression damping to keep the front suspension from bottoming out is sticking a used bandaid on a sucking chest wound.

The correct way to keep the car from bottoming out is to run the appropriate springrate and/or increase the travel with short-bodied shocks ... or maybe not lower it so damned much in the first place.

Grrr.

you got to remember do that not everyone knows that, I bought the car lowered that damned much, and im now trying to fix the problem, all im asking is the best set up.
And if this is the type of comments, im going to encounter to my questions then i'll find
the answer somewhere else............

First off, i would probably find out which springs you have. If you dont know, maybe throw them in the trash or make a cool coffee table... idk.

As jtmcinder stated, you need to match your shocks to the springs. If you dont know what springs are on there right now, then you are just going to have a horrible ride regardless, lowered or not.

Research works wonders.... (dare i post the "search" link :nono: )

And if this is the type of comment............

My comment was aimed at SLV BLT, who suggested that you can lower a 2G by 1.5" and run Blues. I did not see your post after his/hers.

With that said, this is the Handling Forum. Often the correct solution is to toss what you have and do it right, especially if you bought the car used from someone who cared more about looks than performance. Trying to fix a bad system with bits and pieces can often end up costing much more than cutting your loses and starting over.

JTMCinder, I was giving a general idea for what shocks are the best for what springs. Blues work great with Pro-Kits, which are a 1.6 drop, because the spring rate isn't much stiffer than stock. You're correct about the fact that it's spring rates that matter to shocks, not the drop, but typically (at least with springs...coilovers are a different ballgame as the drop is adjustable seperate from the spring rate) the larger the drop the stronger the spring rate. I'm not sure why you think you're so badass, but my post wasn't dead wrong like you're trying to say it is. It was merely less in depth and is aimed for people who just want a drop with a decent ride. Follow what I said, and chances are, you'll be fine.

Well i finally decided on just going with the GR-2 since
they're the most affortable for now, also got a new set of
springs.....just finished putting the front ones on and will be
doing rear tomorrow, thanks for all the great advise..
Car drives great again, no more bouncing.......... :thumb:
