How long did your Yokohama AVS ES100s last?

Hey, I figure since this is a pretty popular tire among the ppl here I could probably get an answer. My Yokohama AVS ES100s are completely gone (wear bars showing) after approx. 12K miles. This doesn't seem right for tires that cost me $150 ea. I lowered my car a while ago, and while my camber did wear the insides of my tires, that isn't the main problem because there is a lot of wear right in the middle of the tires (where the wear bars are).

I autocrossed on these tires maybe 3 or 4 times, could that have caused that much wear? I expected them to last at least twice that long... is that just the nature of high performance tires?

3 or 4 autocrosses will certainly take a few thousand miles off. autocrosses are like hell on tires. the tires in question are pretty sticky, too, so they die off younger. grip and tread life are inversely proportional. most of the stickier tires are more expensive as well, so if you want long ass tread life, go buy some cheap crappy pep boys futuras or something.

235/40/17 es100s are on all four courners of my car. ive scraped the insides of both front tires bald from negative camber on mine, but they've travelled about 10000 now with very little wear on the rest. i have an older pair on the back that have gone 20000 and have a good 1/4" groove. none show cords yet.

when they do, i'll have to roast em and take a nice picture. :D

So I guess ~10K miles is the average lifespan for high performance tires? That sucks, haha. I think I'm going to try to get a set of crap tires for daily driving and nice ones for autox...

I wouldn't recommend that... it seems like a cool idea at the time, but when your car still reeks of burnt rubber two weeks later you'll regret it...
