215/50/17 off a Toyota Matrix???

My buddy offered to sell me a set of four Firestone tires off his Matrix for only $100, theyre size 215/50/17.....will they fit on my 1st gen?

If so, how much will it throw the speedometer off and what size rim should I get? (I know 17", but how wide?)

Im new to this tire business, so any help is very much appreciated!

For the size of wheel to get, probably 17x7.

Offsets are listed in the vfaqs 1000000000 asked questions. I don't have an N/T, so I'm not sure.

that's the stock tire size on 2G AWD's. the rims on those are 17x6.5, so 17x7 sounds good.
