Which Brake Pads?

I need new pads and I'm looking for something reasonable in price that will hold up for awhile. The local discount auto store is offering pads for $40 with a lifetime warranty, which sounds like a good deal to me since I go throw pads annually. I know whether to get the cheap brand or just grab some MetalMasters. Help...

i just bought the 10 dollar set at autozone been on there over a year and last time i checked still had a little over half the pad left

Whats the best performance brake pad? My car is mainly a track car... with the occasional drive around town to have some "fun"
