blown shock?

take the shock off the car and push it in, sorry for the "technical" wording, a little brain dead at the moment, if the shock stays compressed its shot, if it pops back up it should be good. if i am wrong, someone please correct me.

I don't mean to jack your thread or anything Heff, but I have a suspension question also. I have KYB Coilovers on my car right now that the previous owner put on. I have the stock shocks still on my car and it has about 131,000 miles. The Coilovers are down the whole four inches possible. Whenever I drive around town and I hit a little bump I get the obvious bump feeling you get with coilovers, but I also get a huge creak. Also, whenever I just turn a corner, or turn the wheel back and forth it CREEEEAAAKKSSS! It is annoying as hell and makes my GST sound like a piece of shit. I was wondering if that is some blown shocks or maybe it is time for some new coilovers. They have been on there for about 56,000 miles by the way. Thanks in advance and sorry once again Heff.

If a shock does not rise after pressed in does not indicate if its good or bad.... It simply means that there Is not that much gas force in the shock (some may have leaked out) What should tell you if its bad is when you drive does the car oscillate after hiting bumps? Does it continue to bounce or return to a stable mode almost instantly?
