This morning I was lined up with a white Corvette. My engine was warm since I was driving for about 1 hour before that. The light turned green and I reved to about 3k rpm and started to slip the clutch. Before I even got the clutch to engage (or right at engagement point) my manual transmission poped out of first. This made me mad because the Corvette took off without looking back.

My shifter is mounted to the floor without bushings. I adjusted the clutch the other day, made sure everything was tight, and adjusted clutch freeplay and pedel height. Everything is in spec. I had the transmission pop out of gear (first) all the time in the past. I adjusted the shifter lines on the transmission because the line holder was loose that bolts to the tranny. That fixed the problem for the most part.

When I put in the clutch and throw it in first sometimes it kind of seems like it grabs before its all the way in gear. Like the shifter doesn't go in all the way and I have to go past that point and then it is fine and in gear. If I pump the clutch a few times before going into first it engages just fine.

I noticed that my master cylinder has a leak in it under the dash. My ACT2100 doesn't seem as strong either. In your opinion, will changing the master cylinder fix the problem? Not the leak but the first gear pop out? Would installing a symborski shift kit help? If so, I will order it tonight.

The tranny is filled with GM Syncromesh also incase it matters.

Thanks! :)

i had the same problem and i kept sliping out of first and reverse and it was hard to get it into first and my friction point was very low the rubber sleve wears out on these thing. the dealer wants 190 for a clutch master i got mine at auto zone for 60 it now my shifing is so smooth good luck and you might want to pick up a slave too they are only 13 bucks or so
