Hi I have a 1990 eagle talon awd but the only problem is when I bought the car the transmission grinds from 1,2,3 gear. So today I bought I use transmission from a friend for 350, thinking it was good but when I installed the transmission today. I notice that 5th and reverse where hard to get it into gear. So I thought it was just ### it's been sitting there for years, so I when to test drive the car, the transmission sounded good shifting from 1st gear but when I try and but it on 2nd gear it started grinding bad. But it seem that 2nd gear is the only one that grinds, and also 5th and reverse is hard to put it into gear.
I have an extra awd transmission that the bell housin crack and the gears are still good but the only problem is that the transmission is from a 2nd generation eagle talon awd. And I need a 1g awd transmission. And I don't really have a lot of money to buy a new one.
So I was just wondering if the gears from 2g eagle talon tsi awd will fit into the 1g eagle talon awd transmission.

There are many threads about this, but real quick:

If you are going to try to swap the guts over you have a lot of work ahead of you. Things like the shift rails, shift rail ends, 3-4 fork, gear helix angles, reverse idler shaft, 5/reverse gear hub/slider and fork assembly, end cover, front output and ring gears and bearing races can be different. You really have to know what you are doing in order to swap and modify the correct parts to get 2G guts to work in a 1G trans. It's not easy and i would highly recommend that you do not try it on your own.

We can swap everything over for $350 labor plus any additional parts needed, plus shipping. It's an option...

Sorry for the bad news.
