Jiffy lube left dipstick out of auto trans in 92 Laser (non turbo). Trans burned up. What year auto trans will work? How hard is 5spd swap and what yrs. will work in this car?

i was talking to a guy that had an automatic fwd 92 last night, ill dig his name up and give you a shout. 5 speed swap is really easy if youve got a die grinder and arnt scared to lay under your dash for a while... youll need the pedals (check for the 'loose clutch thurst bar'), shifter, shifter cables, shifter cable mounting brackets from the same year tranny that you use (any 1g will work, i think a few 2g will too...), master, slave, clutch lines. did i leave anything out? youve gotta connect the p/N safety switch so you can start the car, other than that its all 'stoopid enjeneereng'... check out www.vfaq.com they have this swap...
