ok so here is my deal.. i have a 1991 eclipse fwd turbo..

i did a 5 speed conversion to it. since doing that, i get a "raking" or grinding when going from 1st to 2nd, and from 3rd to 2nd.. no other gears do it..

also if i drive slow and normal, (not getting in it) it wont grind, but if im slamming gears, its a little worse...

i got all the parts from different guys in my area... trans from one guy, cables, slave etc from another...

i was told its prob a 1990 trans in a 1991 car with all 1991 5 speed cables etc...

how do i tell if the cables are 1990 or 1991 to 1994???

The 90 shifter is slightly different from the 91+ shifters but with the cables adjusted you should not have any problem. The shifter arms on the transmissions are also different between the 90 and 91+ but once again with the cables adjusted right there should not be a problem. If the cables were out of adjustment then the car would not go into any gear or just a few.
