Hey guys ,( I have a 98 gst) i got the fidanza flywheel with my new engine, i took it out of the box and measured with the stock one , i put the fidanza on top of the stock one and felt around for the right size. Everything seemed to be the same i know awd flywheel is smaller , i got the engine in with the trans , and bolted on the starter . I took a glance at the box in the trash can and decided to check the part number , it said 161731 FWD 7bolt , i fot on the fidanza website and guess what. Its for AWD , after i got the trans on and the motor in. Now i just ran in my garage , grabbed my motorcycle battery , ran the wires to the starter and it grabs but does not turn the engine (it is a bike battery :) ), does not spin freely as the flywheel is too small. Im totally confused right now , i think if it was too small it would spin not grab? ANYONE? NO ONE IN 2 DAYS?

That is a AWD part number but it may have been mixed up. If you have a AWD flywheel the starter will not engage.

soemone told me awd flywheel will work in 1gear and start. I do not believe thats possible , the flywheel is bolted to the crank and starter stays in the same spot all the time no matter what gear are you in. Shifting gears does not change the space between them . Am i right??

Same thing, but opposite, happened to me. Instead of getting an awd one I got a fwd one. If your intrested I still have it sitting around. PM me if you want to talk about a price.

i just got this flywheel hope i dont have the same problem. isnt the FWD flywheel 11 inches and AWD flywheel 10.5 inches

how big is the difference between AWD and FWD? Idk , its kind of hard to measure anything inside there. Can you tell me what dimensions are they ? i saw on the flywheel mits1 6255 but its not a part number.

Maybe this can help? ---> http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/1836671-post14.html

Your picture in post #1 looks like a FWD judging by the ring gear. Pull the inspection plate and measure per the link above to be sure.

i cant get in there to measure it ..... , i went and hooked up my car battery , it turns the engine , so i think its the right flywheel . I grabed some speaker wires to test that LOL , melted in my hands :)
