how many splines is my stock tranny 23 or 22?

i have a 91 tsi awd that was made in july. i just recently bought a used tranny off ebay and its 22 splines. i was told it was a 92 and i thought thoes were 23 splines like mine. but now im not even sure that mine is 23 splines. can someone help me figure out my problem

Some early 91's came with 22 splines. But all 92's should be 23 spline.

Remove the tranny and count your output shaft. Hopefully you didn't get "shafted". ! :laugh:
