First time at the track terrible 1/4 mile times on Big16g

I went to atco Raceway for the first time with my car. Result:

I was running only 10 psi with wastegate stuck open, all my exhaust was coming out of the dumptube. Also, I just installed 550cc injectors at the track because I was hitting fuel cut @ 15psi with 450cc injectors; AFC was not tuned properly. I think there is a major problem somewhere!!!!! My car 91 tsi awd mods consist of 2.5" buschur turboback exhaust, dumptube 02 housing,Big 16g turbo w7cm housing, 95 exhaust manifold, hacked 1g MAS, 5500cc injectors, Apexi AFC,BM afpr,extreme mbc ,KN air filter......STOCK CLUTCH......not too good. I need some opinions

Waste Gate stuck, open. That makes no sence how where you able to make boost at all?
 
Sounds like you got some tuning problems and need to learn how to launch / shift her a bit better. You'll net better times if you get your launchs down to 1.8ish and your 1/8ths down to 8.6's. With all of your mods, did you purchase a logger to see how your car is doing with your setup and to tune with? What were your EGT temps like?

When I still had the stock 14b I disconected the waste gate flapper when my turbo went bad. I wanted to still drive for a while with out working the turbo untill I could replace it. I was only able to very slowly creep up to 4psi of boost by redline. Are you sure your wastegate is stuck open, and your not having the low boost becuase of some other problem?

Working on your launch will help alot, you should be able to get down into the 1.8's and maybe even 1.7. I average low 1.8's with occational high 1.7's and I don't feel like I've got the launch pefected yet.

I don't think thats all that bad of a time considering your launch and that your car isn't running correctly.
 
I found a major problem......There was combustion coming out of my dipstick and breather.Lots of Bloyby. Took off the cylinder head and the head was very gummed up with oil deposits. It's was not clean ...like all the other heads that I removed from dsms.My pistons have play in all 4 cylinders and looks like my head gasket wasn't sealed around no 1 and 4 cyliners. Now ...I'm gonna install my 1g big Rods...new rod bearings ...drop the head off at the machine shop......get new valve stem seals..3 angle valve job and seats checked. Also install new piston rings. Hopefully when I go back to the track ..with my car running properly I can get better times.

Ok ...Here's what I found out when I looked at my car.
Smoke coming out of dipstick and valve cover breather...LOTS
Removed cylinder head ......the head was all gummed up with burnt oil deposits from bad valve seal and piston rings

Bottom end....the pistons in the no1 and no 3 cylinder has play..I can move them around ....a little....cylinder walls has no damage...I can still see the cross hathing marks

head gasket looks like it wasn't sealing on the no1 and 4 cylinders

Rebuild time....Installing new piston rings...valve stem seals ...valve seats checked ...3 angle valve job...resurfaced...ARP head studs..4 layer head gasket...piston rings...rod bearings ...and ARP hardware

Hopefully when I go back to the track with car running right w/ACT 2600 ....I can atleast run a low 13

ok here's what I found when I went inside .......no3 piston was cracked in 4 different spots on the ringland....my rings were worn in all 4 cylinders because the pistons have a little bit of play in them....my rod bearings were worn out.:D :thumb:
 
Well...yeh those are problems...but your main problem for only running a 14.5 is your boost...you were only pushing 10 psi...if you bumped it up to 15-17psi then you would have noticed a HUGE difference and probably been in the 13s...

Its funny...you ran a bad time, and instantly tore apart the motor...you must have two cars...;)
 
Yeah...I'm swapping in the motor, tranny, and 4 bolt rear from 1 one of my parts cars....92 awd laser....perfect compression ACT2600 clutch...2g mas...and extensive amounts of tuning. Looking for low 13's on race gas

fix your car and learn to drive. why waste money and embarassment on track time if your cars running like butthole? i usually start preping my car the day before i even go racing. get to the track an hour before it opens so you have time to switch gas, remove seat, remove headlight, etc. and get safty inspected before they even open the strip. if your cars running shitty fix it or don't go at all or listen to people say "yea dat gsx wit da 16g he only run 14's wit all dat money nuttin like my camaro damn rice runners wit dey rice heh" instead of "damn dat dare car is quicker den a bucket he must have nooossss or sumptin wowie!"
