I launch around 5.5-6k rpms, then I very quickly slip the clutch out. I actually got a better 60' (1.8) by slipping the clutch rather than dumping it (best of a 2.0 60' by dumping). My best advice to you is, take it to the track on a test & tune night or a night where you can get a lot of runs in, and just try different things out.

Wont you guys really ruin your trannies by just dropping the clutch?

As for the quick slipping, this prevents tranny damage correct?

Fast slip is the trick.. keeps the RPMs up in the engine's power zone.
Think of it like a see-saw.. you let out the clutch as you add throttle. You'll still end up launching ~5K.. but 60' will be better (and your center diff will thank you :thumb: )

Same here I am scared to launch over 4000. Heck at 4000 the other day I was spinning my fronts and got wheel hop. I though after I got rid of my fwd I would gey rid of wheel hop too. (just got the awd a week and 1/2 ago, SWEEET).

Yea.. I learned my lesson the hard (and expensive way). 5.5K clutch dump and an ACT2100# was the cause of death to my 3-bolt rear and center diff (wheelhop from sudden transfer of tork to front wheels).

Fast slip took my '60 from 2.1 to 1.8 and is MUCH better on the drive train.

7K! OMG i dont see the need of launching at redline. wat were you thinking man

i rev 4.5k - 5k and slip dump. did a 1.91 60' im going to the track tonight and try to do the same w/ my new clutch. If i dont get a 1.8 - 1.7 the 1st time then ill do a 5k - 5.5k launch

I launch at 5500 typically, then as I slowy press the gas pedal I let the clutch up about half-way, then by the time the gas hits the floor the clutch is fully released. The tires only chirp slightly and the drivetrain will appreciate it...can't say much for the clutch.

Hey this is my friends dsmtuner screen name but anyway I have a 95 gsx and since I got my act 2600 clutch I don't mind reving to 6k and slipping the clutch, makes a nice launch. I find it better than just dropping the clutch. With my stock clutch I only would rev to 4500 cause I didn't want to burn through my clutch so fast. Now I don't need to worry, well I shouldn't exactly say that but at least my worries are at a minimal.
