I going to the track one of these day and see my quarter mile time.
I want to know at what rpm should I rev to, make the lauch and not get stuck in second gear. and run a shity time.

Launch at 4500rpms and slowly slip off the clutch after 2-3 runs you'll get the hang of it....

There are many different ways to launch. Dumping the clutch, which is bad on the transmission is where you release the clutch at desired rpm. Slipping is where you release the clutch slowly. With those in mind if I come to a corvette or other RWD with torque I normally dump it. If I am running something pointless (honda) then I slip the clutch. Everyone will have different rpm points. What works on the T25 best is slipping at 4500. With upgraded turbo, clutch etc. then the RPM will vary for you. Slipping will get you off the line smoother as well. Dumping the clutch can result in a bog or even worse... tranny failure. Good luck and keep in mind that a AWD transmission new is 2k and rebuilt will be in the middle mark.

:thumb: practice makes perfect.

As others have suggested, you will have to play withy our technique. Depends a lot on your clutch setup. I have an ACT2100. I find about 4500-5000 works well and then slip out quickly (don't dump). I have only been to the track a few (total of about a dozen runs) and I have managed a best 1.91. Not great and many folks do much better. I would rather not trash my car for that last 0.2 seconds off the 60 foot though.

Just practice holding your car on the line with the e-brake. Hold an RPM (pick from the above posts) and on the last yellow, slip clutch out. The faster you slip the clutch, the higher your launch RPM's will have to be to prevent a bog. At the same time you are slipping, you are squeezing in the throttle so that you are full throttle by the time the clutch is out. Boost will build quickly and if you did it right, the thing will squat and GO!

Have fun and don't expect too much your first time.

Bull$hit! I have launched at 5500 with a 3-bolt and it didn't break! You just have to know how to work the clutch. YMMV.

;)

Put it in the gear marked "R". As all the honda boys will tell you, that means race. Then rev it up to about 6K and dump the clutch. It will be a sight to behold. ;)

4500-5000 slip the clutch.

I have launched my 3-bolt rear at 6000k before and haven't had any problems, albeit I only did that once.:)

I think it all depends on if you slip the clutch (which I always do).

woops..ive just been learning to launch and i had no help with it so i dumped it one day at 6500 with a 3bolt rear..i have a act2600 with a bm race tranny..i will try this "slipping technique" over the dumping technique now..LOL..wouldnt want to trash a 2000 dollar tranny..

um,, OT here a second
9DTSIAWD, this is scary
your car looks IDENTICAL to mine. well i don't have fog lights.

ok, back on subject
i used to dump at 5800 in my old gsx.
blew a tranny and several clutches.

4500-500 slip, fast slip, dumping = bad.

I was stuck in the low 1.7x's when launching with my 3bolt rear. So at the Shootout I thought i'd try and raise the launch rpms a bit. 6000 and a little slip netted me a 1.700 60'. A nice 1.6x was what i was looking for so I thought maybe it could take a little more. 2nd pass, 6500 slip......POP!!!! as soon as the clutch was engaged pop went the axle. The resulting concussion sent my rearview mirror flying into my helmet.

I'm sorry Gunner, but that's pretty funny.

Progressivly slip the clutch, meaning let go of it at an increasing speed to keep the revs up and insure you leave under boost. I would say start out at 2500 rpm and work your way up if you're a beginner. 4500 is a good rpm if you want a sub 2 sec short time and a long lasting tranny.

My technique is to rev to 5500 rpms and slip it really fast while giving it a lot more gas so it doesent go below 5000 but be careful, the redline comes fast in 1st

it only slips for like .5 secs

all this on a stock clutch w/75000 miles

When i launched, i just dumped the clutch :( guess thats bad!!! Anyway, i havent tried to slip the clutch yet. How do you exactly do it? Does it have to start grabbing before you go? Wont that kill the clutch? I have a CM stage 3 and its held up to some pretty brutal launches so far ( not sure about my tranny though :) )
