Went to the battle of the imports in kent washington this past weekend and took home the bacon :D

We arrived at the tracks and unloaded the car off the trailer, 1st pass of the day at only 24lbs of boost the car went 11.30 @133mph, that was good enough for the #1 qualifyer, 2nd pass the clutch slipped on me the whole way down the track, not sure what went wrong, but it was fine for the rest of the night, but I still managed to click off a 11.50 @124.56 on a slipping clutch..

1st round of eliminations I lined up with a low 12 sec sti, I ran a 10.82 @137mph, that is a new best et and mph for me until later that night.

On a side note, every singal run I had I almost put the car into the wall through 2nd gear, the tires just light up and sent me everywhere but straight. Scared the shit out of me every run, the car was making so much power.

2nd round, I lined up with a mid 11 sec evo 8, launched the car and spun to a shitty 1.89 60ft, grabed sencond gear and ALMOST crossed the center lane when 2nd gear came online, could not keep it straight again and ran a 11.0 @135mph.

3rd round, lined up with a toyota supra that ran a 10.68 @134mph in his 1st round, so my qualifyer spot was still there as I did it in qualifying passes, this pass I turned the boost up to 34lbs of boost, I was saving the best for last. we played stage fighting before we fully staged, nailed the 2step and I got the whole shot, went to grab 2nd gear and nothing but air, I missed second gear ahhhhhh, I got lucky and he missed as well, I slamed into sencond and the car just woke up, I could not beleive how hard the car was pulling, grabed 3rd gear and walked away from the supra and the car was just harder then hell to keep straight and planted to the ground. Grabed 4th gear and pulled through the traps at a woping 11.4 @138.93mph!!!!! If I would have not missed 2nd gear it would have gone 140-141mph on that last pass.

here are the passes at each boost level

pass 1 24lbs 11.301 @133.26mph (side ways through 2nd gear)
pass 2 29lbs clutch slipped the whole way 11.506 @124.56
pass 3 30lbs 10.829 @137,44mph (car stayed straight this time)
pass 4 30lbs 11.021 @135.69mph (hit rev limiter too hard in 2nd gear)
pass 5 30lbs 11.048 @135.37mph (side ways through 2nd gear)
pass 6 34lbs 11.489 @138.93mph (missed 2nd gear hard, new best mph)

I was very excited, alot of people talked to me at the tracks about the car and was very amazed I was doing it on street tires on 17" rims haha.

All of this on a daily driven talon with stock struts, stock tranny, stock motor mounts 17" 215/45/17" toyo proxes tires and the car weighs in at 3250lbs with me in it.

ANyway, I won a HUGE trophy and $500.00 and alot of respect. I was very happy to be in the winners circle at that track.

My best 60ft time of the day was on my 10.82 run with a 1.831 60ft all the rest were stuck in the high 1.8 range. Slicks are the next mod to this car. I am sure the car has a 9 second pass in it if I get the slicks and suspention setup right..

Had alot of fun.

ahh man, you should have let me know you were gonna be there, id come up just to meet ya and check out the evileagle in person

I posted it in upcoming events man, Yeah you should have came out, it was a good event.

Congratulations! I was there and meant to go talk to you but when we needed to leave I didn't have time to find you. I was so excited when you ran that 10.83 run, LOL. My friend was all frustrated because you whooped on that Skyline and they are pretty much his favorite car. The other 3 DSM's didn't do too bad either, the 2 other talon's were both in the 12's I think and the VR4 was in the 12's too right? I remember on that 10 second run seeing you kinda sliding back and forth in your lane, i almost peed my pants, hehehe. OMG

Congrats man - that's very impressive. :thumb:

Quick question - Where do you see full spool on you fp3065?
Also, what are you tuning with?

I am running the fp3575 turbo now, I see 30lbs by 5000rpm right on the money, it is almost the same exact spool as the 3065 was, maybe 50rpm more lag with this one, but nothing to notice..
And I am using AEM EMS to tune the car.

Yeah that galant was one of the cleanest galants I have ever seen, props to him for great runs on his fpgreen.

You peed your pants, crap man, I had a pile of turds laying in my driver seat after that one haha. Yeah it scared me too, I seen that wall come real close, the car fought me like none other, I only had one good straight pass, and that was my 10.82 run, it still spun like hell all the way through 2nd gear, but it stayed straight that time.

Thanks guys!!
:D

It was pretty sweet to see two dsm's running the same turbo and Jake's (evil_eagle), running a full second faster. When his clutch was slipping I thought he was going to be done for the night, but he came back and ran the 10.83. I don't think I have ever seen a car that needed slicks as bad as he does. He's not exaggerating about heading toward the wall on every pass.

The Galant belongs to turbowop on here. It is in my opinion the cleanest Galant VR4 and he seems to run very consistent times.

I think the red dsm was Nick from Pina Motorsports, but I could be mistaken. I think his car normally runs faster times than it did on saturday.

breaking traction in an awd in 2nd ..wow, thats awesome

At least get some 17" drag radials, the gforces, that in itself wil make a HUGE difference, and wont break stuff like slicks.

4 drag radials should get you deep in the low 10s...they are 225/45/17, they help alot on my fwd, i can only imagine all 4 bitting :thumb:

Yeah it spooked me pretty good, I was shaking like a little girl when I got back in the pits, there were a few times I almost lifted, but she straigtend out in 3rd gear and took off like a freight train.

Yeah I thought the clutch was done as well, but I bled clutch slave down and re ajusted the clutch pedal, I had it too far out so the pedal was clear at the top when it engaged.

Yes, the vr4 galant was very impressive to see, that car is clean as hell, you can eat right on the tranny OMG

My final pass I thought I was going to loose control of the car in 4th gear, I hit 1/8th mile and notice all the white powder on the track from someone breaking and oiled the track, well the track did not blow the powder off the track, I seen it right after 1/8th mile and it went clear to the end of the track, my body went numb at that point and I just prayed that it would not hit that stuff too bad and break loose, if it would have I would be one pissed off driver and chew the tracks ass for not caring for the imports at all..

I was not impressed with how pacific raceway ran the track, they have such a awesome track, but do not care if it's preped or not for the imports. Track officals were jerks, I had to yell at one of them as he got an attitude with me and some other people there as well. I told him to goto hell and leave people alone as he was just yelling at everyone, calling them idiots and such. In fact he yelled at one of the honda guys, "MOVE THAT PILE OF SH1T!!" was his exact words, then he started to line me up with the wrong car I was laddered up with, so I told him "hey I am laddered up with the STI" he yelled at me and said "I FU**ING KNOW THAT!!" I just gave it right back to him and said "YOU KNOW WHAT PAL F*CK YOU!!! I did not drive all this way to put up with your sh!t!!" He just stood there stuned as hell LOL.

I am going to give a nasty feed back on pacific's web site about there officals, was not impressed at all. I would love to come back to that track, but if the oifficals are going to be that way then forget it.

But anyway, thanks for all the props guys, I had a good time up there other then the track officals, but I geuss there are just some tracks that hate the imports.

That sucks about the track officials. It also sucked how the announcer could barely tell a civic from an integra. One race stood out in particular "it looks like we have maybe a civic versus probably an integra" WTF

Congrats, dude. Your car is making great power. You're in dire need of a tire upgrade.

The track being slick is an understatement. My last pass I lost traction in third, and I'm on 245's. I NLTS'd into third and the car got all squirrely on me. Not fun. At my home track in Yakima I ran high 11's on my old 18's with 225's. Now that I have 17's with 245's I expected better times, but I was spinning horribly off the line. With a good launch I should be able to get some consistent mid 11's. :)

BTW, thanks for the props on my car being clean. I'm glad people notice considering how much time I've put into getting it that way.

Yeah the few times I've been to that track they prep for the v8's a lot better than they do for the imports. The announcer was a joke. He was calling everything a civic or a prelude.

Correct, I think both have gone 11s before... I know them from here and www.POSDSM.com

Congrats to all 3 of you for good clean racing, wish I could have been there.
